The OP had a bad experience with his RX8, he does not like them, get over it.

That's my point - he didn't have any kind of bad experience, he thinks 1/3 quart of oil is a lot, and a Porker that needs a new engine is better than an '8 that doesn't.

He is a few cards short of a full deck; to quote the great philosopher - "....an idiot."

Seems to me like this idiot just wants a little attention.

A little "Hey, look at me I drive a Porsche!" attention.

Mind you, the Porsche has already failed and has an even worse repair record.

*yawn*

We are all impressed you bought a used Porsche.
Although, I'm not quite as impressed as I am of the two or three folks here who recently bought brand new Corvettes.

Just because his experience or reasons for selling his 8 are not shared by others on the forum, it does not invalidate his beliefs. I have read so many posts on this forum regarding the RX8 vs. just about every other car, and people always want the 8 to be the best. I have also read so many posts about adding oil being a problem and gas mileage being terrible, yet people still buy them. There is something about the RX8 that is intriguing, but to deny its faults is simply being shortsighted. Was adding a little oil every 1000 miles a problem for me, no, but it may be for others. Same goes for the gas mileage, is it a problem, no, but for many it becomes a problem when the cost of gas continues to rise. He didn't like his 8 and sold it, that is the end of the story.

He didn't like his 8 and sold it. Then he came on to an 8 lovers site and started bashing the car and company.
I dare you to walk up to a newborn babies mother . . . and tell her that her baby is ugly, and the mother (factory) that made that particular baby is terrible and should stop making babies. How do you think she is gonna respond?

Yes, I know, we can be harsh sometime.
But to quote my 7 year old cousin;
"he started it!!!"

Starbucks is the best!!!!!

Their cups fit in the cup holder of my RX8 really easily.

My '83 RX7 flooded a couple of times when I had it. Thank God I have had ZERO engine/powertrain issues with my '04 that was born on July 7, 2003. <Knocking on Wood>

Also what does being gay have to do with ranting and raving over a flooding Renesis? Please enlighten.

Yes, but do you complain loudly to anyone and everyone who will listen about the bad service you received at these places?

This isn't about his opinion of the car, this is a critique of his attitude, behavior, maturity, mental capacity and incredible lack of tact. When you post a thread saying "mazda's are a piece of trash" on a Mazda forum, you are asking, no BEGGING for abuse.

If you went into a fine dining establishment and started talking loudly about how every time you've eaten at this fine dining establishment that you got food poisoning, you would be thrown out on your *** in short order and told to never come back. Same principle applies here.

Quietly contented people don't get noticed. The percentage of 8 owners with irritating issues is actually quite small- no worse than most new designs in their first couple years of production.

I've had my '07 for 15 months, only one minor issue, fixed under warranty- and by a different dealership than the one I bought it from! All I got was smiles and "thank you for letting us help you". It's never flooded. Everything works perfectly, just like the day I first drove it off the lot.

The RX-8 has no peer in the automotive world. It can't be compared straight across to any other vehicle in current production.

It's not the right car for everyone. No vehicle is, so do your homework before you buy.

But it's just right for me.

He's like a dog...once you make eye contact he's all over you. Just ignore him and he'll go away soon. Or someones in the middle of menopause and is changing his mind more often then his hot flashes. My legs would get sore from jumping on and off the band wagon so often. Which end is up??? Cornflakes! God I wish some people made sense.

Well he is entitled to his own opinion, but he is so back and forth with his word he makes himself look like a tool. I agree, the RX-8 is not for everybody, but what car is , really? I think he struck a nerve with everybody with his wish/ washy ways ,then tries to dump on the Mazda name brand because they didn't offer him something for nothing. He sounds more butt sore than anything....

He got his Porsche ...great... move on...why harp and whine to the board about a car he no longer owns. Kind of pointless IMO....

I enjoy this forum, even though I don't own an 8 any longer. When I did own one, this forum was different, it was more of a car enthusiast forum, not a praise the 8 forum. People would post questions about different cars without getting slammed, they would even post their dislikes about the 8 and not get slammed, that just does not seem to happen now. There were many threads about the weaknesses of the 8, and many more about the strengths. I welcome those like the OP to post threads like this, maybe it will stop another buyer from buying a car they really don't like and won't have to take a bath on reselling it. I would rather people make intelligent comments than just bash an individual because he bought a porsche.

Wow what a lynching! But good reading though. My '83 RX7 flooded on me twice, it came with the territory of the Wankle. My '04 RX8 that was born on July 7, 2003 hasn't had any engine/drivetrain problems (knock on wood). It's been a worry free gem for years.

Also I fail to understand the relationship between being gay and a flooded engine. Please enlighten.

My whole though on the gay thing.

A flooded rotary isn't gay, but 2 guys in the SF mission district, wearing leather and talking about wankles sure as hell is.

Exactly. I run a fansite for the videogame Max Payne and Max Payne 2, and on the official forums when the games were released, there was like 100 people in a period of 1 month screaming that the game was faulty and ****, and they didn't get help and so on. (most of the issues were their fault, the rest had factual errors). And like 500,000 other people had bought the game and had no problems. But 100 people screamed loudly, if you only look at that you might believe there are bigger problems than there are

That's why attitude like this is annoying imo. I might get a problem, anyone might get a problem. But the engine design isn't bad because of that.

clearly the OP is nothing but a whinny little bitch.

he fuxked his car up but he wants Mazda to cover it. Wow.

When Mazda refused, which is the right thing to do, he got pissed. then he went out and got himself another car.

Funny thing is he thinks that the older rotaries will never flood.

Who cares about him, just get out of here already. keep whinning.

I could care less if you attack me in this forum, like I said it is what I expect. I sold my car for a reason, I still like the RX8, but this forum is not of much use. I browse it for the lounge and the general auto section. Some people here are very knowledgeable, but most just want to flame. You flame someone for not liking Mazda (who had a bad experience), and you flame someone trying to make a point. People with dogmatic beliefs annoy me. You like your car, great. If you don't like them, great. I could care less. Many individuals on this forum will tell you the many faults of Mazda and the RX8, they are honest and have experience. Lately it seems like most on this forum are interested in 1/4 mile times and the largest sized wheels they can fit on the car.

It's not your opinion, it's the way you put it.

Try knocking on the door to the RX-8 Club and coming in with a smile instead of kicking in the door and opening up with your minigun.

My mom's mercury sable is an '02 and it's had more problems than I can count. Bull **** american cars have less problems. Weak throttle cable, extremely weak brake rotors, pads and cylinders, hood no longer opens, and countless other problems I can't begin to count. Don't bash RX-8 reliability. Just because you couldn't keep your engine from being flooded as per the owner's manual isn't our problem. You bought a Porsche and have had multiple problems since. You are a massive hypocrite.

not to jinx her, but I own several 00=03 Tauruses... Her tranny is about to go in 5.4.3.2.....

Which engine code? U, 2, or S? I think it's the 8th digit of the VIn. The U is the base engine adn by far the most reliable. The S is the Flex Fuel, will have a leaf on the fender, that is the same as the U, but with Fuel pump issues, and the 2 will have a DOHC label on the fender. That is the optional engine, with the most power, but is BY FAR the least reliable of the engine choics.

I echo the weak rotors... Mine are daily rentals and driven hard but they rarely get 20k per set...
