Oh and just an FYI, the Porsche had a check engine light, the dealer came to the conclusion it was a faulty camshaft, which I didn't buy. It sounded like they didn't want to work too hard on it, so they just got me a new engine, I wasn't going to complain. Oh and the rumors are true, there is no substitute. All, enjoy your 8s, I probably would have kept mine but the reliability issues caused me not to. I sold it before they extended the power train warranty to 100k miles, I might have held on to it, I just didn't want to pay for a new engine and I was sick of 15mpg with a lack of speed, I get 20-24mpg in my 911 and I drive it hard.
Yes, the 8 is better than any Honda, but Honda's run forever. I think the 8 craps on the S2000 and 350Z when it comes to all around performance.

One Shot One Kill
it's not a designed flaw, it's an engine design inherent weakness.
u want to rev to 9k on a street vehicle? then live with it.
shame on u for letting ur car flood.
had u been bumper to bumper, they woulda cover flooding once. powertrain just protect ur **** that it works, they cleared the flood, and it works, i am sorry that powertrain warranty doesn't cover stupid people from dumping gas into their engine

Absolutely Porsche is one of the most amazing driving experiences available.
Yes, the RX8 is a better car than the 350Z, thanks for stalking me. I'd recommend Nissan as a company, they were willing to up hold their name. If you asked me 350Z, I'd still tell you that I'd prefer an RX8 over it. Nissan is bringing the weight down 200lbs and pumping output to 350hp, Mazda is busy trying to fade out anything with sport. Hey by the way they sent me a $50 gift certificate towards Mazda parts or service, anyone local want it?

Oh and honestly after driving the 911, I have thought I wasted my whole life toying around with cars that were a waste of my time. Yes cost of ownership is higher but until you get behind the wheel of one, you won't understand. The RX8 was nice on some back roads. Unfortunately I live in the city so all it did was waste my time with headaches and cost me a ton to insure and fuel up. My Porsche is half the premium.

It does bother than me when my car flooded (not in my possession) I had to pay a fortune when I thought the powertrain warranty to 60k (now 80k or whatever, I dunno, doesn't seem to matter) would cover something.
I was deeply pissed, out-debated a rude rep when calling Mazda USA, but got over it. The RX8 is still the best sports car / daily driver for the price. It's also been a chick magnet for 3 years, so I guess that makes up for things :D

This guy was crying, and asked mazda to pay an $800 bill for him.So money must be an issue
But yet getting a porsche was a good financial decision.
Next thing you know he will be complaining about resale value. . . . . . . . .
Lets see how your porsche does there

Yes, I might buy a 3rd gen RX7 to play with but I was considering buying a new RX8 or the possible RX7 if it ever comes out as my daily driver. However with my previous RX8 (2004), I had your typical flood. It's 2008, cars shouldn't flood, this is a design flaw. I wrote Mazda NA and requested that they consider investigating my report and I enclosed a receipt. I had to have my vehicle towed literally 500 ft up a hill to the dealer. I spent $870 on parts and labor, the dealer took me for a ride and so did Mazda. Anyways Mazda NA, told me that it was a "driver error" and declined my request. I will never buy a new Mazda vehicle as long as I live.
I had a Nissan a few years ago and the master clutch cylinder went out @ 51K miles. I wrote them and they reimbursed me for the repair. I will heavily consider buying a Nissan as my next daily driver, they wanted to uphold the quality of their company. Mazda basically told me that the RX8 was unique and being unique they don't consider it to be of the same Mazda quality. Whatever, they lost on some opportunity with me. Thought I'd share my story because until now, I liked Mazda.

I'll take the gift certificate. You can find the address of my business at www.allamericanrent.com .
If it was on a hill, could he not have just pointed it downhill, pressed the clutch in, coasted to 20mph and dropped the clutch in second? Is that not easier then spending $870?
