Lots of cool stuff mentioned. To (maybe) add, I love:

1) That it's not a "parts bin" modification of a sedan. Stuff isn't made-to-fit, it's designed-to-fit.

2) It's an engineering flagship; look at the complexity of the trunk hinge for example.

3) The wing windows in the rear doors, just like on my 1968 Triumph GT6+ or Road Runner/Duster 2-doors.

4) Light, fast, and high-strung (like my favorite dates.)

5) Electronics that enhance the driving experience, not dumb it down.

6) Fab red/black leather, heated seats, mirrors, style for the girls, geeky cool for the boys.

7) It's inexpensive enough I can keep a second car as a daily-driver. I only drive the batmobile when I'm out to have fun.

Amazing how Nissan has already introduced a new model and ours is still looking as fresh as ever. Design masterpiece if you ask me. The "8" is truly timeless. This car will still look great in 10 years.

You are right about that, it's going to follow the foot steps of the Fd... Up to now a 1991 fd can past as an 2008 model car!!!

Exactly. It's one thing owning a car that looks good for a few years, then goes out of vogue. It's another owning a car that looks good forever.....

This thread has probably sold more 8s than any single Mazda salesman.

You know I've been loving 8's for years but just recently got one and just found this thread. One of my biggest things is this car has made me care again about my car. After having sedan's lately I didn't really care about them, this car has made me want to do stuff with my car again and take care of it. Also it makes me just purely enjoy just cruising around.

^+1! Now I drive because I like to....not because I have to. Plus, I didn't ever wash and wax before owning the 8.

I love the engine. I know, that's vague--and kinda obvious. To be specific:

Engine

1. It's so smooth! No shaking or shuddering at idle, etc.

2. I can cruise at any RPM without feeling the need to up-shift. In my Miata I couldn't do that because whenever it hit 3,000 or higher it'd sound like it was really working hard and I'd get annoyed pretty quickly and up-shift. (Except at highway speeds, that is, when it'd be so loud in the cabin that I wouldn't even notice. Gogo well-insulated RX-8!)

3. It doesn't sound/feel like it's gonna die when the revs are below 2,000. (Not that you'd ever want them to be that low, but I've gotta break her in. Forgive me?)

Uh, there might be more, but right now it's just so damn fun to drive that I haven't really been paying attention to, well, what exactly makes it so fun.

Interior

1. The cigarette lighter and ashtray. Granted, I'm trying to quit, but I thought all the carmakers were too PC these days to put that in. Hell, my '08 Miata didn't have it.

2. Auto-down and -up on both windows.

3. The full-length center console. It's better than just having a useless gap between the rear seats (in other four-seaters, anyway), and it looks ******* smooth with both doors open.

4. The digital speedometer. It's nice to know the exact speed I'm going. More than that, I'm coming off a car that had 4 ticks between each 10mph-mark on the speedo. Uh... like I really care that I'm going 42.5mph? C'mon now...

I hadn't done it in awhile, but last week I was re-impressed that after shutting down and pulling the key out of the ignition you can still close the windows.

I love the double and triple takes people do as I roll past them. On the side streets, people have yelled out "NICE CAR!"

It just has such a different look. Sleek, sexy.

found something new...

i blew a fuse...

at first i didnt know, and panicked because nothing in my interior was working...
posted a thread, got some help from people saying that i was a blown fuse...

checked the interior fuse box and found the blown fuse, but also noticed that mazda put in spares as well...

so i just put in one of the spares and everything was copacetic.
thanks mazda for the spare fuses! saved me a trip to the autostore and relieved my panic!

This past weekend my wife and I went on a weekend getaway with two other couples who rode in a 335i. On they way back we took a crazy twisty mountain road with him leading. The whole time I was easily keeping up with him (he's no slouch driver either) and when we pulled over for a rest he was sweating and checking his tires. My wife and I got out and said. "Well that was pretty fun, let's do it again."
