The Little Things
You guys are killing me. I'm reading your posts and I'm thinking...I can't wait to get my 8 already. I am really obsessed over this car, its ridiculous. I plan on getting mine in November...so many days until then Grrr!!
Wow - Just found another compartment in the middle!
It only opens when you slide the front cupholder cover all the way back, once in that position you can flip that cover up and away from youself to reveal a semi-hidden compartment!

dude..... I donno if this was posted before, but pull out your DL next time you get in your car, and have the sun visors in their stow position. Then look on the right side of your sun visor mirror(middle section next to the part with the holes in it) and slide your ID/DL into that slot. I love this car :D
I like how the person in the passenger seat cant quite see the speedometer. Im always getting asked where it is cause all they see is the large tach.
I love the amber colored lighting on the controls and gauges. Also enjoy the blue shining on the gauges.
I like how people ask me how many cylinders it has.
I like the looks I get cruising around in it and all the compliments I get when im out.
I like that, im in the car feeling you get instead of the on top of the car feeling I get in a subaru/honda etc. By that I mean the rx8 feels like a sports car when you sit in it.. You sit lower in the car in something like the rx8 just like the feeling you would get from a high end sports car. Where in the subaru/hondas I feel like im sitting so high up in the seats just dont feel like your really in the car the same way.

And everytime people ask how big the engine is and I always reply with '1.3 litres ;/' Then they're all like 'WTF? O_o' Then I have to explain how it is a Rotary engine and how it doesn't work the same way as a normal engine heh.
I think I have a new one
Hi All, I have been in my 2008 Anniversary for about a week and a half, just loving it. Wish I had another 3 or 4 months before the winter wheels and tires go on though. On the other hand, the more docile driving of winter will probably help with engine break in.
Here is a little thing that I have discovered with the 8. After about a week and a half, my errand list of some 7 or 800 odd things has dwindled to nothing, and I am going out of my way to find reasons to pop across town.
I've taken to forgetting things at work that I absolutely have to look at tonight at home.
Like others I just love the red lights where some little punk in a souped up apple box starts starring you down and revving their blender motor to its 2800 rpm redline, the light changes and you have to wait for the next green because you were laughing too hard to move.
Finally, I love this list. What a great way to properly align your expectations and eliminate your concerns before purchase.
I will let my dealer rep know that he has to split the commission with you all.
Cheers,
Troy

Zoom...
Fantastic thread! No particular order...
1. The "WOW, I gotta have this car..." when I first drove it at the dealership.
2. Suicide doors.
3. Walking out of Fudruckers the other night and being stunned by the Brilliant Black parked in front of the door -- then remembering it was mine.
4. The fact that when I have an armful of stuff, I can just lean on key fob buttonand have it pop the trunk.
5. Turning the Bose off to listen to the car most of the time. Turning it on occasionally when I want it REALLY LOUD without distortion.
6. The rubber neck factor of people in parking lots when they see it .
7. The quality of the light thrown on the road at night and the fact that when I roll up into the car porch they have flat top so they don't blind me.
8. The sun visors letting enough light through so that you don't constantly feel like pushing them back up like on other cars.
9. The fact that the odometer dominates the instrument console and mph is relegated to second place.

This in not RX8 specific as Mazda in general:
My wife and I went to a Porsche Club of America drivers class yesterday her with her Mazda3 and me with the RX8. So it was us and a bunch of 911's 3 series BMW's and Boxsters and a couple of Z06 vettes. In the beginning people were good naturedly ribbing my wife about her "little" 3. And then when she took the instructors through the slalom and the emergency braking/lane change they got out of the car, scratched their heads and said..."That's a nice car."
And of course everyone loved riding in the 8 loved the interior and loved the handling.

I finally used the little mirror behind the sun screen and found that it has a night light - and I actually needed it! Had to look good at a Rally - Now if there was only a light by the dip stick...
The RX-8's aux 12V electrical port (within the armrest console) shuts off when you shut down the vehicle, so no chance of draining the battery if you leave something connected. My Jeep's aux power is always live, so if you forget to disconnect .....
This is my secound rotary car my first rotary was a 91 rx7, i just loved it!! I drove my buddies 8 and i was hooked so i had to get one!!
I love the the following about my 8

Driving the RX-8. I didn't get to drive my 8 for the last few weeks. Yesterday was my day off and it was a nice cool sunny fall day. Took her out to nearby country roads to rekindle the wondrous chassis with a smooth running rotary that with the rifle-bolt action shifter results in superb moments from one string of curves to the next.
I had a 90 RX7 GTU before, and now the 8 which I love a lot better. The most things I love is how easy it is to get to everything in the engine, as power and performance and so on. It makes me feel like a **** star
long list, short:
1. everything
the styling (every bit of it) is sublime as is the ride itself, handling and power and acceleration. just fantastic. i've been researching this car for a while and had been on the car hunt for about 2 1/2 months finally to land on this amazing, amazing car.
i couldn't be happier with it, driving it brings an unrivaled joy to my life that hasn't been there with any other car i've driven. i'm so happy to be a part of the rx-8, i'm definitely converted and a mazda believer.
also to introduce myself, i'm 20 and live in Pennsylvania. Represent. Thanks guys.
