I need that to remind me...

I like the hummm of the exhaust in 6th gear.

Tell you what. Instead of yaking about it why don't you go out and try them both and see what you can and can't do. I know what they do because I've tried them both.

Mom was waiting for me in the car while I ran into the post off,
When I came back she was laughing - she said two men walked past the car and one turned around and walked backwards so he could keep looking at it! And this car is now nearly 2 years old!!!!

Yesterday a young lady stopped us in the parking lot so she could look at it - she was amazed by the side doors - and shocked at the lack of pistons - Mom loves to explain why there is no engine to be seen under the hood...

Fresh wax

I finished putting a coat of fresh wax on the car yesterday and ran out to stock up on supplies I was followed across the parking lot by a guy who wanted to know more about my car, he was telling me how much he loved them and was interested in the Rotary engine. This is about the 5th time in the past year I have had thoughtful strangers strike up conversations about the RX-8. It's nice to have a car that many people are enthusiastic about and interested in.

Another 8 was behind me day before yesterday - I recognized it in my rear view mirror because it had a "smile". Very few other cars smile like Speed McQueen!

A little while ago, I saw a white rx-8 on Topanga Blvd. in Chatsworth, CA with the Evo-R's lip spoiler. Just yesterday I saw a red rx-8 with Mazda Speed Spoilers and the white racing stripe. As I was checking out his car, the driver waved.

I look at other beautiful 8's and makes me feel good that I am driving the same beautiful car.

Really great thread.

The engineers/designers at Mazda ought to frequently visit this thread. Like so many other people have said, reading this makes me feel really good about my decision to buy an RX8. It makes all the people who do a publicized "review" on this car and criticize certain things about it seem very silly and ignorant. It's nice to hear what RX8 OWNERS love about it and from what I have read here, there is lot to appreciate. I don't have the car just yet (being flatbed shipped to me), so I'll wait to contribute here.

Thx

I bought a Macally FMcup ipod transmitter (ipod fm transmitter that is round and sits in the cup holder...

I was EXTREMELY pleased to discover that there is not only a cig. lighter power source in the center console but there is a little notch between the cup holder area and center console so that the wire can run form the cup holder to the source and allow the center console door to close. It's like mazda anticipated my FMcup accessory and already had it planned out?!?!!!

A kid ran across the mall parking lot just to take a look at my 8, he was yelling at his dad about how the RX8 was the "bestest" car in the world, I also caught a guy taking pics at it from the 8th floor window at the office. Since I had the car about 2 1/2 months I 've seen about 5 other RX-8's on the road, and I'm in Miami, with a lot of traffic and I drive all day. What's going on? It doesn't seem to be very popular down here.

That's the beauty of our cars.... rare! I love that after 4 years of production, they're not bellybottons like the Z's, Civics, Eclipse, etc...

Haven't got mine yet, so naturally this thread gets me all giddy. But I have to say my favourite thing about this car (little or not) is that no matter how great it looks in images and in video, it just doesn't beat seeing one in real life. It's like it looks ten times better, and you can't take your eyes from it. I think the RX-8 is a beauty. Can't wait to get mine!

Love how the "More Mazdas on the track than any other make" commercial is first to air at the start of the Turkish F1 GP.

Btw, anyone going up to Monterey this weekend?

More specific to VR owners, but I love whenever I'm at autoshows and the car is in direct sunlight people gasp at the color and ask, "Is that factory paint?" Just the other day while parked at our Mazda Corral at Lime Rock Park I had the crew from Racers Edge checking out my "stock" RX-8. They all seemed to love it and what I have done in mods. The ladies flock to VR paint.

The Ladies seem to like Black Cherry Mica too. "Wow, it looks different in sun and shade. Like having two paints"

Another little thing - a full size golf bag, with 45" shaft driver, and a collapsible pull cart fit easily in the trunk like it was designed for them. Oh, wait a minute, it was!

a standard cart bag or carry bag most certainly will easily...it's another story when you have a 10.5" staff bag that you are paid to use so you HAVE to...its a bit of a squeeze to get it in there!!! but you can!

In my third season of use ('05), I can't believe that I just 'discovered' this at lunch today, but you can put up the windows without the key in the ignition/acc. Don't know how I missed that in the manual. Nice feature!

Mine doesn't do that. Maybe this is different on Canadian cars?
