Limited Slip...

Hey all. I'm shopping for a used RX8 and wanted if anyone knows whether limited slip is standard on all models, or only on the Touring and GT but not the Sport?

Thanks!

right.

also be advised that from 2004-2005 the trim levels ran: base, sport, gt.

06+: sport, performance package, grand touring

kersh4w. Thanks the the help! So I'm right that the 'base' model or 'sport' model do not have limited slip, correct?

You may have the 'touring' model, which fell between Sport and GT

But I have no leather or moonroof... So I guess touring doesn't have to have moonroof or leather.

Looks like you have the Sport with the trac/stability as an option (I wasnt aware this was an option for Sport)

OK, that's what I thought all along that I had the Sport model. So the OP needs to know that a used Sport model can have a limited slip...

I think there was a performance package or something like that in 05 that added xenon headlights and the DSC/TCS which would include the LSD to the Sport model. I got my car used with 1700 miles so I wasn't sure how it was spec-ed exactly.

Wait wait wait wait. Every RX-8 has a "limited slip differential," all but the base package also have the electronic traction/stability control. But if you're just talking about old-school fluid in the differential limited slip, every RX-8 has one.

I have the low end 2006. Called the sport that year.

I DO have the LSD. But I DO NOT have the traction control. So I know for a fact that the sports LSD even without the DSC.

THis part is a guess;
I thought that the automatic tranny cars DID NOT have the LDS? I may be wrong. But I thought at if you had a 6-speed, you had the LSD?

anyone have a pic of the non-lsd diff casing? (or can snap one for me?)

also, while we're talking about this: the lsd diff, is torque sensing, but not a torSen right or wrong? (ie: reversibility of worm gears and such..) I was looking at some diagrams and it does seem to be friction-based, but i've seen people write about it both ways.
