Probably about as big a leap forward as the Renesis was from the RX-7's 13b.

Good news though.

My old 12A RX7 was rated at 100/105 HP (see Sig). My 13B RX7 was at 135 HP. Now the Renesis is is rated at around 235 HP. I would say that is a giant improvement over 20 years.

^ not to mention the emissions improvements across that band.

People forget that the emissions controls were a primary reason for engine changes over the years.

Just like crash safety controls were the primary reason for alot of body style changes, and one of the reasons the FD stopped being sold here.

Yeah I miss the days of having to open my hood and leaving it open in an attempt to cool the engine off after a long and/or hard drive. That car was a hoot, but the engine heat was a real pain to deal with.

Lots of people buy these cars before realizing how bad the gas mileage is. Just deal with it or get rid of your car

Every time I get a grin on my face while winding the engine to 9,000rpm, I pull over and have a random motorist slap me in the face as a reminder of how bad the engine is.

Every time I settle down to a smooth and peaceful cruise down the highway after a day of autocross and feel how smooth and happy the engine is for it's spanking I ram a spork through my eye as a reminder of how bad the engine is.

Every time I shift to an off ramp or on ramp and drop several gears and put the pedal to the floor headed into a turn already double the recommended speed, I pull a pair of hedge shears from the glove box and cut my dick off as a reminder of how bad this engine is.

Yeah, it's a terrible engine. It's well worth the price I pay. How about you?

My 1985 13B would only rev to 7K. It started choking at 6.5K due to a poorly designed intake system.

hmmm, I've only had #1 happen to me.

I might be able to do #2, but I draw the line at #3

I have done all three. Lol.

Also will add one.

Everytime I drive by a lowered Honda or Mitsubishi the driver's girl looks and tells her man how much she likes my car, I grab a rusty infected knife and slice my throut as a reminder of how bad this engine is.

Should make this a game. Ha

Yeah people love the 8. The other day I was walking to my car and a 350z was parked next to me. Their was a couple in front of me that owned the 350, the girl said I really like that car (my 8). The guy said don't you like mine more? She said no that one looks nicer.

You gota give us your secret . Eight in my eight is the norm for track driving, and 10K is soooo a recipe for a new engine. You must be in parade laps with that 14 MPG lol and I doubt your rpm boast wo/specical mods. Still the eight is fun under 100mph.

ya that is true, what a great engine. every time you hit 9k RPM you are still seeing tail lights, unless its a honda civic. and not to mention being the only car forum around that has a new engine club thread. nice! and also the fact that you get beat on a track by cars that don't handle as well because of lack of power coming out of a turn and on the straights.

i agree its pretty smooth engine. i like the rx8 i owned one for a year and a half. but i wanted something with some *****. and stopped caring about handling when everyone in american drag races and all we have is wide open roads, this isn't japan.

i am not a troll, i am only stating facts. and i love the rx8 not for performance, but for being different than the rest and the car looks very sexy. but in terms performances it lacks. ok its impressive for a 1.3L, but how long are you going to keep saying that?

You realize this is because of the engine warranty, right? The 8 isn't the only sports car with engine issues. With other cars people don't get a free new engine when they fail, so they tend to move on to a different car.

Your other compaints all make it sound like you're the kind of guy whose dick shrinks whenever he sees a car with higher magazine numbers than the one he drives.

well i know a lot of people with nice cars, and go to a lot of car meets. and i am on a lot of different car forums. and this forum has a lot of thread about engine problems over the others. i sold my rx8 a while ago and bought a car that doesn't get that great of reviews, don't handle very well but looks great, and is very fast. i could care less about youtube reviews and what magazine have to say. that doesn't matter in the real world.

in terms on performance the rx8`s best thing is light weight handling. but in american who really cares that much about handling . most people here have never been to a real track. and on the roads its all about how fast you can go in a straight line. we are not in a fast and furious movie. where they are racing through towns and taking turns on streets going that fast.

the rx8 was a thing of the past, but now there are better cars out.

then you need to learn how to drive as your driving skill suck ***.

this car is not for you then, its time to sell it and go back to "American muscle" that handles like crap(most of the time).

you know in Japan they called American car "stupid" simply because they turn like a truck and brake fades so fast cuz you have to brake every 2 seconds.

I don't call that "suck" tho, cuz its just for different market.

i am not a troll, i am only stating facts. and i love the rx8 not for performance, but for being different than the rest and the car looks very sexy. but in terms performances it lacks. ok its impressive for a 1.3L, but how long are you going to keep saying that?
So am I. just stating facts.

Was at AutoX this past Saturday, one of their "best driver" actually drives an RX-8, he wasn't driving that day cuz he is doing volunteer work. he drove my car once tho and I almost **** in my pants.

before you say "maybe all other cars are slow", a GT3 was there. Slow ?
