i dont know about you, but my 1 gear tops out at 41mph, 43 if i go a lil passed redline, which i dont mind doing

Having trouble finding a place to redline your car?!?! Holy **** man. I used to redline my 8 several dozen times a week on the commute to and from work. It was just natural.

Just drive it hard a couple of times each time out. I'm not saying rag or beat on your car, but run it up through at least first and second to redline at wide open throttle, shifting smoothly, and have fun with your car.

9k not bad for engine?

Yeah right I dare anyone to stay 9k for longer than a minute or two or three. See what happens it won't be pretty.

I've cruised on the freeway at redline in 2nd gear for a couple of minutes just to eject carbon, more than once. I kept my eye on the temp gauge, but no problems, engine liked it just fine.

Keep in mind that the FC in that video was sitting still, so the coolant system wasn't able to work properly. Heat is what will kill a rotary sitting at redline, as you can see from that video.

Actually driving on the road at redline, you can probably empty the gas tank before the engine dies.

Also keep in mind that the 8 redlines at 9k while the FC redlines at 8k, so that was like an 8 sitting at 10k with no air going through the radiator. And the engine didn't tear itself apart, the coolant system just couldn't keep up.
