I think engine is dead. Which dealer in Baltimore area?
Hello:
I have a 2004 with 57K miles. I didn't drive it for 3 weeks (out of the country). Upon return I noticed lack of power, moreso below 3K RPM. The car still drives, but you can barely accelerate. No check engine light.
based on what I read, it is probably the engine (lack of compression). The Mazda extended warranty expires in 2 months (started in 9/2003).
I need to know if anybody has had good (or bad) experiences with engine replacement under this 8 year/100K miles in the Baltimore area. I want to go to a dealer that would not give me trouble.
Any other suggestions are appreciated. I know the diagnosis is not confirmed, but anything else is probably fixable on the cheap. I worry about the engine being toast and having it replaced under warranty if that is the case.
Thanks

I didn't drive mine for 3 weeks recently and had a he'll of a time getting it started. If I jumped or push started it, it would start fine. Upon getting some advice apparently ethanol doesn't react well with the wankles and sitting. He suggested I toss some seafoam in the tank. Worked just fine. Other problem is my battery is undersized and has a hard time getting it going. These cars don't like to
sit anyway.
sit anyway.
