Here's one. Last Friday a brand new, black WRX STi turned in front of me while I was waiting on a light. I thought for sure he hurt himself as his head spun around wildly to get a second look at my car. It was freaking hilarious.

Yeah, those WRX guys know a beautiful car when they see one outside their own garage.

Find me another rotary-based Mazda car that more closely resembles the 7 then I'll change my statement.

k....that's like saying the new civic si is the s2000's successor

But don't take my word for it, Mazda has said the 8 (a 4 seater with an n/a renesis made to be a a fun yet practical sports car) is not the 7's successor (a torquey, turboed, pure sports car with two seats).

New 7 in the works too, apparently

Ok now that's just stretching it. Civic si as the s2000's successor? I think those are just a teeny bit farther apart there.

Mazda may say it's not the 7's successor but it's obvious that at some point it was slated to be. Similar body styling, high-revving rotary engines, performance when it matters. Only real difference is the 4 doors (I sort of consider it 3 doors...1 1/2 doors on each side lol). There's a whole more more in common with the 7 and 8 than an Si and S2000.

As for the new 7, last I heard it was just a rumor unless there's a recent news release on it? If they did release one I would think that might cause a problem in competing sales with the 8. Or maybe if it were marketed as strictly a low-production specialty car then things might pan out. Of course that would suck for the rest of us enthusiasts as most of us can't afford a $50,000 sports car. (I still dream of a Lotus Elise from time to time ).

Such a pointless argument to start, and to continue. Not what this thread is about.

Exactly. Getting this back on track, two-and-a-half years, and I still haven't gotten tired of the stares, and the whole "What the hell is that?" stuff.
Love this car. It looks soooo much better with the MS kit.

It's called an analogy, apologies for not making the best one possible.

Body styling similar? That's stretching it. Rx7s are a couple hundred pounds lighter, and obviously faster. Why would you make slower successors? And again, a two seater sports car differs greatly from a 4 seater. It's another Mazda with another rotary, but go up to a enthusiastic 7 owner and ask them why they havent switched cars yet.

There's always been rumors of the rx-7 being worked on. Then there's the Kabura, which could pan out into something with a rotary. Any Mazda car with the 'rx-7' in its name will sell, count on it. There's a new article in the rx-8 news media forum.

Yeah, just when I think I'm used to how it looks, I'll see it in the parking lot next to the other cars and just smile.

Lots of stares, all the time. I love watching peoples heads turn as I go by. I have had several friends ask me lately if I just got a big raise, or did I finally sell that big bag of weed I had lying around.haha! Seriously, I have been thinking about selling it, so I can pay off some other bills, but this thread is helping me reconsider. I just love this car!

I like to drive with the sunglasses and act like I don't see the ladies starring at it. It makes my eyes hurt.

at a local 7-11 a dude in his truck pulled up next to me. and made me roll down my windows with an inquisite look. the first question from him was how much my rides where and if indeed my car was factory oringal. that felt good. also once, I was pulling into my fav 7-11. this dude circled my car to admired it. it seems to me that alot of ppl was to race me. I had a evo, pontiac GTO the new one, m3, turbo'd prelude, a two doored mercedes v12 can't remember the actual name of the car. it felt great that ppl felt threaten by RX8

I'm still shopping for wheels (damn UPS to hell), and at all the big chains w/ clueless workers I've been asked "so what that set you back? $35, 40K?" I have to bite my tongue to stifle the laugh as I say "try $45K!" Can't have them running out to get one now, can we?

What I love is that you sit at lights and everyone wants to try to pull away as fast as possible to race me. I really don’t entertain them, which is the best part, they know I could but it is much cooler to just drive more conservatively. Now when you reach a nice tight curve in the road and they slow down, that’s where it becomes fun!

I get a lot of stares, some guy actually Walked around my car on the main street downtown to get a good look at it.. the best is when they see it pull up.. then they see me get out, as im only 20 years old.. the looks are like... "wow i cant believe the parents let them drive that car..." little do they know.. those jealous sorry bastards.. is that it is my car.. and not my rents.. i love the stares......, i also love a lot of the young kids who try to compare with me
"My truck is better"
"Oh.. so your truck can seat 3 extra people very comfrotably, your truck has nice heated leather seats? your truck gets Stares and stares from.. Everyone? your truck has a 6cd in dash, 7 speaker sound system? your Truck has a 9-10k RPM Redline? your truck.... thats enough.. ive already proved my point"
"yeah.. well.. my truck is faster.."
"oh.. ok.. first of all.. no its not, second of all, i didnt by my car for speed.... its not a drag car... third of all.. let me see you use that speed infront of a cop.. see where it gets you.. me on the other hand, i can use my style, and comfort, and sexyness infront of the cop and all ill get is a nice smile and wave and a stare.. while hes giving you a 400 dollar ticket."
