Sorry boss. That looks & sounds like a nasty, strange angle crash. Glad to hear you walked (well, limped) away w/o any major injuries.
Gotta agree w/Cool-Blue - the "tin can" feeling will subside. And, despite the way things look, w/o airbags deploying, and this crash being a pretty severe case of big vs. little - it really looks like the 8 did a fair job of protecting you. It looks from the pics & your description like this truck basically climbed on your hood & dragged you to the wall. Sounds/looks like a pretty rare collision angle, and one that no car will be "good" at absorbing.
Good luck w/your healing.

SUVs and pickup trucks are evil in crashes with smaller vehicles. Their bumpers and frames are so poorly designed to be higher than everything else.
