I had my first run in with premix on my RX-7 last weekend. Was easier than It thought it would be!

Regarding the containers: you can get 4 oz plastic bottles in Target for about a buck. Look for them in the travel section... that's what I use. 4 oz per tank is exactly the amount I need, parallel to the factory OMP.

I use the molded marks on the side of the Idemitsu bottle, and yes the spigot is long enough. Generally I pride myself on being a precise 'man of science', but this ain't rocket science.

There are people that have been premixing since the start of their car and are well in/over 40k miles. There is absolutely no negative effects to premixing, and if you're not, you should start for the sake of your engine *Looks at NYCGPS's thread*

I use an old plastic rubbing alcohol bottle. I left it open to evaporate any residual alcohol, used a measuring cup to pour in the required amount of premix, and marked the bottle with a sharpie.

Now I just fill the bottle to the line when I know I'm going to fill up soon, and just pour it in before I pump the gas. Easy.

The hard part is getting any oil off of your fingers after doing it, it's not good to get oil on the steering wheel! Always keep paper towels in the car, you need them for checking the oil anyway.

I use an AMSOIL 2-stroke 3.5 oz. bottle and just refill it with 2-stroke after each trip to gas station and leave it in the trunk. I often fill up in the wee hours of the morning and the bottle gradations on the larger bottles can be hard to see, so I like something I can just dump in. I use it with a small funnel that I also keep in the trunk. I premixed my RX-7 when I had it and now have pre-mixed my RX-8 since break-in.

Is it really vital to mix it with gasoline before you dump it into the tank? Won't it mix pretty well w/ just dumping the premix into an empty tank then filling it w/ gas?

After reading all the stuff on here about premixing, I realized I was using TCW-3 oil to premix and I shouldn't have been doing that. Luckily, I've only been doing that for about 6k miles. My plugs are probably effed... Just ordered a case of idemitsu and 8 of those nice aluminum bottles. Those are sweet, I'm probably gonna end up using those for lots of stuff..
