I am going to buy some Idemitsu Premix and was wondering what people use to measure out the oil and then pour it into the gas tank? The spout from the bottle does not look long enough to be able to pour the oil directly into the tank, and I did not see any markings to shows for measuring how much oil is left in the bottle.



I know this is a noob question, but I have never used any fuel additives or premixing before so I have never had to try to find an answer to this question before.

I have small metal containers. I measure out 4oz of oil and 2 oz of fp+ into each container. Whenever I fill up, I pour the small container into the gas tank before adding fuel.

 

That does sound easier.


I'll go running around this weekend to try and find a small measuring container that would be easy to use to pour in the oil.

I just use the bottle it comes in. It has markings on the side and goes by 4 ounce increments.

When I fill up I pour in 4 ounces of idemitsu and start pumping gas afterwards. Hopefully that agitates it. I don't have the patience or time to do much more.

I premix 4 ounces a fill-up, whether the car is bone dry or the fuel light just came on.

 

try ur local grocery store, they have these small metal/plastic measuring cup tat goes up to 2oz.

 

I put my premix in these

 

I use empty Idemitsu bottles and put 7oz (200ml) in them . I put that in the boot tied up with the compressor .
Then just pour it in before filling with gas.

 

Great minds think alike. That's exactly what I use. About 3.5-4 oz of Idemitsu and 1.5-2 oz of FP+. I keep two in my trunk, and my 6-year-old helps me mix up a new batch every week or two. He gets mad if I make the premix without him. Future Rotary Owners of America!

 

Forgot who said it, but it works... you can just find those small dixie cups... they have them in like 2 or 3 oz cups. Just keep a box in the trunk or something.

I use a measuring cup to measure out the proper amount of oil, then pour into these. They're cheap enough to buy several dozen... look great, seal well, and haven't caused any issues.

 

paper funnel from the guy behind the counter works for me.

dixie cups then pour the liquid into a 1 liter aquafina bottle. fill with gas. shake.

then add the mix to the tank at half tank full.

Noob question...What's fp+?

 

FP PLUS by LCD, Inc Some here call it a lubricious cleaner, ie, it lubricates while also cleaning. Apparently, it's also the only one that has a specific ingredient called cyclohexanone that not only dissolves carbon but converts it into a kind of graphite lubricant.

 

I have several small plastic bottles that hold 2oz each. [You can find them for next to nothing in cheapo stores like Ollie's or Odd Lots with a variety of stuff in them.] I clean them out and fill them with Amsoil 2-stroke oil and keep them in a plastic freezer bag along with some paper towels and a long funnel. Depending on how much fuel I estimate is needed to fill the tank, I use 1, 2, 3, or 4 bottles of oil. Then I refill the bottles to be prepared for the next gas stop. [This is for my RX-7 track car, BTW.]

 

i buy the premix from pettit...it comes in a case of 4oz bottles...
i always carrry 2 or 3 in the car ( in that middle compartment that flips down in the back seat, i also have a qt of oil there and a funnel)...

the 4oz bottles of premix from pettit need no other assistance...unscrew, break the seal and they pour right in without anything special...
i wait till its time for a fill up...pour it in at the station then fill up...

no big deal...no fuss no muss...

 

I may be old fashion but i think a funnel would work awesome but using small bottles or something may also help....

 

If you pour pre-mix in the opening it will seep down just fine (and rather quickly) past the splash door inside the throat.

There is no need what so ever to use a long neck bottle or even a funnel.

 

Ice mark is correct also just slowly pour it into the neck before the opening to the tank and it will go right into the tank then just fill her up with fuel....and your good to go for about 200 miles

 

Interesting stuff. I'm reading up on premixing, I like the metal bottles you linked.

Can you premix with a turbo? I was wondering if it would somehow throw the tune off or something wierd. Also, does premix kill the fuel filter? And are most of you using premix in addition to the stock OMP or did you disable it in some fashion?

I'm coming up on 50K miles soon, and have a new turbo setup, so I was thinking premix could help my engine longevity (though I wish I had the foresight to look into all this stuff 5 years ago). I assume this has all been discussed before, forgive me if I'm delving into a topic beaten to death. The sticky page is extremely long, I started reading it but it'll take me a while to get through it.

Can PM me if anyone is concerned with jacking the thread.
