Also remember, if its a professional thief. They'lll get your car no matter what. Me living in SoCal, I gotta deal with Chop Shops, the boarder of Mexico, and ports, like in LA, Huntington, San Diego and stuff. Most pro's I assume already know how to bypass a security system, especially low jack. For example, the #1 stolen vehicle car for car is the cadillac escalade (most people think its the honda accord, but thats only because there are more honda accords in the word than escalades), and it has OnStar, which is actually better than low jack. Low jack is the lowest priority on a police officers call. Best security is hopes and dreams that your car does'nt get stolen, and a garage to park your car lol.

NO, in my opinion, ravelco is not theft proof. And I was just using it as an example of a kill switch. It was the first one that came to mind. But if the guy DOES have a key to your car. Which is EXTREMELY easy to get (thats why you should leave your registration in your wallet and insurance). It will be just a tad harder for them to steal your car. Also, some companys do offer guarantees (like $3000) if your car gets stolen just for having their system in your car.

Best theft deterent is to:

1) NATIONALLY enforce Castle's Law (allow victim to use lethal force if someone breaks into their property)

2) 9mm/45/whatever your flavor

Course, if the government get serious about thieves in general, they can adopt the cut the hands off approach when caught. Lets see them try to steal with stumps!!

1: They target a car that you see often (store, a house, etc.)

3: Walk away from the car, with JUST the registration.
4: Make a fake ID of whoever is on the registration
5: Go to nearest mazda dealership, and get a key cut.
6: They just got themselves an RX-8.

I recomend an aftermarket killswitch system. Like Ravelco or something.
Good theory, except the key has to be programmed to the car.....

Really? I lost my key and got a new one and it worked fine. And the vehicle was not present.

So has everybody learned everything they need to know about stealing an RX-8?
Lot of good info on this thread.

This is what we install in our equipment,,,Longview
I can watch the location from up to seven differant satelites triangulating the position.
It will tell me with in 50 feet, what side of the street it is on and which block.
It updates position every 5-7 seconds. You can watch the equipment moving on the computer screen on a real time GPS map.
Much better than LO-JACK.

Seems to me that if they are just going to chop it for parts anyway and most of the salable goodies are in the front hood area a simple chain saw would suffice...

So are you guys heading to Alaska for that boatload of salvaged 8s?

1. Buy full coverage insurance.

If it get stolen, the insurance company buys you a new one.

2. GPS tracking.

Better chance than most of finding your car.
