How to drift the Auto 8?
lmao, you guys have pretty much **** on this poor guys thread. only 2-3 good responses were made. and yes... it is possible to drift the auto 8...end of story. whether or not you have the *****/experience to do it is up to the driver.
You think this is bad... you should take a look at the Turbo for Rx8 04 model thread.

Theirs no point if your car doeasnt have a "LSD"..... I know how to drift my RX8 but mine is a 6SPD. Hmm if i had the automatic, i would go fast and drop gears fast to lock the rear tires if the Auto RX8 can lock up lol haha. Get SS lines and tighten the e-brake.
Step 1: come in
Step 2: feint
step 3: pull the e-brake
Step 4: let it kick out
Step 5: countersteer and give it gas.
Practice fish tailing, then do figure eights, when it rains practice controlling the car by countersteering and braking and giving it gas.
By all means i am "NOT" responsible if you get hurt or get into a accident or hitting things trees, birds, dogs, cat, people, curbs, poles, any damn object cause you suck at controlling your own damn car.............. jk on the last part or maybe not

wow, 3 pages and still nothing but douche bags whinning....
heres what will help you some, if you want to drift this car.
1. inflate tires to 55-60psi (tires wont last long, but they sure will break traction)
2. practice going in a circle, then coming out of it changing direction so that you can get used to the steering wheel and the cars activities.
3. sit up properly.
start from there, and go for it. IF your tranny last, you might be able to do something worth while.

it's funny that owners of cars that are underpowered are trying to figure out how to artificially get them to "drift", and the owners of cars that are overpowered and are trying to figure out how to keep them from loosing traction and fishtailing all over the place.
It's kind of insane, isn't it? Grass is greener on the other side.

how do you make a car "artificially drift"..... elaborate please.
You know what I mean... I'm not using it as a technical term.
About the only way you're going to get an auto RX8 to drift is to initiate it with the hand brake, and then once you drift, you're so underpowered, youre not really going to be able to hold that drift for an extend time unless you've done something to "artificially" decrease the friction or contact patch size between the road surface and the tire. Driving in the rain and over-inflating the tires have been suggested.
I think that's cheesy and ridiculous.
You can't really use any weight transition techniques without having an insanely high corner entry speed, cant kick the clutch, cant power oversteer for ****. Are you going to compression brake in an auto RX8? I don't think, unless you hate your car.
Does that explain what I mean?
thats one of the funniest things i've heard yet..... Why do you want to drift anyway? you'll be spending tons of money on tires. Anyway, good luck.
^ditto
why are you trying to drift anyways, its an expensive hobby. Your going to go through alot of tires, clutches, and transmission not to mention the body damage you might cause to your car. My best advised to you is if you want to "drift" buy a cheap 240sx manual and have some fun. To me theres nothing more fun than taking a turn and my tires gripping the road while the person thats trying to keep up with me is having trouble staying in control. Gotta love the 50/50 weight.
