How do you put your license plate on the front?

Silly Missouri requires you have a plate on the front, and that sucks. I was looking, and there doesn't look like there's an easy way to get the plate on there without screwing new holes int he bumper *Really don't wanna do that*.

Through my searches of the forum, I really didn't find anything about this topic, so if we could see/hear some of your setups on it, that would be awesome. *This is the stock front bumper, btw*

;( Poor bumper's gonna get some holes in her. Times like this I wish I lived in OK or KS, as they don't require front bumpers *which I don't see the point of anyway, as cops tail you, not you tail them.*

noooo, dont put some holes in the bumper.

if you are worried about getting to the dealership, use some twist ties or zip ties to mount the license plate to the grill.

or just leave it like that.

I was comparing sizes with the front grill and zip tying it, but was getting worried about the the air flow restriction to the radiator.

The bracket covers the top of the grill which is blocked off anyway....

dont worry about it, the top half of the grill is fake anyway. it has a black bumper behind it, if you look at it closely. if you check out the 09 rx8s, they made that black bumper visible on the front. (looks horrrible imo)

if you are concerned about airflow, do this mod. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-front-license-relocation-evo-plate-holder-38156/

When I bought mine the dealer had a plate holder (with the dealership logo plate) bracketted to the upper part of the grill. I took it off since I don't need front plates...

thats illegal in maryland. must be "properly" mounted. i think, even relocating it with the evo style would be considered illegal.

It goes on a plastic mounting bracket on the front grille, not the bumper.

Here's the TSB describing installation. You probably already have the screw inserts in your grille.

all those ***** except for the one azathoth posted are gay. go to your local walmart or w/e you guys have on those hills, buy the one that mounts inside of the grill so it dont scratch your paint. if u worry about airflow , lol wtf u got on it thats gonna need it?? its made that way for a reason.

unfortunately for you, knight7, azaroth lives in sweden and has a different sized license plate. feel free to do that with a US plate and feel free to get shitty results.

also, he put it there purely for aesthetic reasons. that plate blocks more airflow than anywhere else on the front of the car. even the default location. it does look nice though.

Haha...that is what I did...one side has a screw and bolt but the other side fell off so I used twist ties...

I would never put a whole on mine!

I used the standard bracket, but didn't like the way it overlapped and threatened to rub against the bumper just above the grill. I moved it down one diamond. There's a DIY on that:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=35010.html

The bracket is a little bigger than a standard license plate. One of these days I'm going to either trim it, or get one of the cheap brackets cited later in that thread.

I have that bracket that fits on the grill, I would prefer to put it on the bottom now though.

It doesn't block airflow where Mazda located. It does block some airflow in the lower position.
