How can I tell?
I just bought my 2004 Rx8 I know absolutely nothing about the car. But how can I tell if I have the 197hp version or the 238hp version? Im thinkin the 197hp because this car is slow as sh*t! Also what are some good 1st upgrades and where do i get them? I already have tint, taillights sprayed and it came w 18's which im def going to sell and get all black wheels. But i was thinkin maybe exhaust intake and a tuner, but you guys know more then me whats the best bang for the buck? Lookin to spend around 2k to make it have better performance because this thing is slow my 300c can beat this thing! LOL

The 197HP version is the AT in the US ...unless you are somewhere other than North America.....you have the HP if you have a manual tranny
As per power adders...look around the forum...there isn't anything easy to get a lot more power.....except FI, and it's over your budget

^ for real I was at this 711 da othA nite and i all walk outt of da store with my drank and pull out my bad *** switch blade to hit the unlock. well as soon as the parking lights flash these two hotties came from the side of the store and start telling me how much they dig my car and wonderin what im doin l8tr. ok so get this, then this guy in a silver crossfire pulls up bumpin some big. at 1st i dun even pay attn to the xfire, but then i notice hb1 looking over and notice it!!111
jus wow 2 cool..it was too late \......... the crossfire snagged the hotties..

This is very true! They guy told me it was the 238hp version so I believed him like a dumb ***! Oh well too late now! At least the car looks damn good tho!LOL

i learned my lesson on that one and thought the kbb was a good representation of our 8s value. not. lol..

A little research ahead of time could have had this question solved before you signed anything. That being said, 197 hp is nothing to sneeze at. Also, these cars handle great in corners at high speed, so don't be fooled by HP alone.
