Hail SUCKS

Yeah, we got some HUGE hail last night. I am not sure if the damage can be worked out by paintless dent repair (I have a $500 deductable--don't ask me why I haven't changed it :p ). I only have two dents so far, but they are bad IMO.

The Damage:

1. The A-pillar got hit by a baseball sized piece of hail resulting in a 2" diameter smooth dent. this doesn't seem bad, but the insurance lady told me that more than likely the whole piece will have to be replaced. That connects all the way back to the rear 1/4 panel

2. The hood has a dent from a golfball sized piece of hail that has a very sharp indention. I have been told by a friend who does paintless dent repair that when there's a sharp point in the dent, it will not come out. I wonder if this means hood replacement?

Anyone else have any damage in similiar spots to their 8?

i have about a total of 15 little dents, we had a hail storm yesterday in fl , the hail was about the size of a quater or bigger. what sucks is i was taking a shower and i heard a BAng. I ran out side in nothin but a little towel that was way to small; to find it hailing like a mother f---ker, i pulled the car inside and saw some dents right away..... it really sucks alot

that really sux, last friday i was at work, and i was looking outside all day thinking to myself that the weather was really crazy, one minute it would be sunny and nice, next it would be dark and cloudy and a little rainy, then the wind would die down, then the sun would come out, it was just crazy. i got home, and talking to my old man, i mentioned the weather to him, and he said yeah it was stormy as hell at home, at one point it was bad enough to shake the house (3 story house on the beach with no trees to block the wind) and said it was hailing there, i was like, damn, glad i was working (work 20 miles south of where i work right now)

hope everything works out your your 8's, i would hate to have that happen to mine

Hey here,
I got hit by the storm pre-Easter, let me know if you have any questions, check out this thread to se how it all worked out:

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/happy-ending-60669/

best of luck with it, it might not be as bad as you think

quickedit: just in case you're wondering it was over 9 grand worth and every inch of the car was damaged

I've got hail damage from the previous storms. The hood took the majority of the hit. I got an estimate of $400 (since it's aluminum). It's a good thing I have a spare hood. I was planning on replacing it, but decided to wait until storm season dies down. Diane, good luck on the repair.

It's not as bad as I think, I just got taken by suprise and KICK myself for being too lazy to put her in the garage that night.
I see the RX Club meets are going well. All the same regulars sans me. Larry's still pimpin it in the black vert and the Manson machine looks good as always. I love your yellow. *jealousy* I should have gotten yellow...:p

No kiddin'....We're gonna have to have a two-man RX-8 enthusiast meet. :D
Ever make it down to Lub? We have NO RX-8 enthusiasts here, just little spoiled b*tches who drive them because they like the styling (though that is one aspect I must give them that they are good at... )

Mazdaspeedgirl , I make it down there once in a while . Usually when there is a big concert . My part time job is doing the set up and tear down of concerts if they are on my days off from my real job . Same here , there is a few Rx's around , I wave , nothing back . I did see a Silver on a tow truck about a month ago , he hit something hard . I work across the street from the Mazda dealer here . Let me know , maybe some day we can meet !
