looks like a good buy to me (albeit bone-stock)... get the dealer to take care of everything for you

Oh and get used to that fuel meter reading "E"

if i had a chance to go back i would have gotten the sport model instead of the GT... when you have a GT its like you dont really feel like messing around with the interior that much because you paid extra for those. and plus you would save a lot more money with the sport model too. well it all depends on you though

lol i taught her a lesson today, once she was warmed up i must of redlined her like 15 times getting all that yucky carbon out. But honestly once i get it i will be changing the oil probably with 5w-20 for now and switch to 5w-30 once the summer roles around and im going to buy some of the mazda "seafoam" so i can get a good carbon cleaning and off course the all day wash and super wax job.

Hey, town north mazda! That's where my 8's from. I can tell you that their customer service is decent as far as mazda dealerships go...but if you do get that 8 I hope you don't have to work with them nearly as much as I've had to over the past few years. It's kind of like knowing that the nearby hospital has good facilities, but you still hope that you don't need to find that out the hard way.

Anyways, I always recommend the 8 to a fellow driver. So on the chance you do purchase it I'll go ahead and welcome you to the Dallas 8 community. Hope to see you out there

I look forward to it and they have treated me great. Honestly im only 19 but im a dealers worst nightmare because i know all the tricks and for that one im paying basically 11,500 with basically 500 bucks and a trade in down. You guys have any local weekly/monthly meets? When i had my spec v turbo'd i always went to the car meet located at park/coit on Wednesday nights... Speaking of my last car here are some pics of her, she will be missed but the handling and looks of the 8 are too overpowering.
This is the custom build i did on my 2.5li 6sp Spec V. On 8psi it put down 315 to the front wheels, hence the reason for the BFG G-Force tires.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does it mean to "claybar"? Is this something I should know about?

Oh, and Gratz!!!

well drove her tonight and it was a blast, i have to check the tire pressure because that stupid light is on but everything else was good. I did notice at idle when i was outside the car by the exhaust every 5-6 seconds i would here a loud low pop, sounded like a backfire. I know these cars run rich and dump a ton of fuel so i have no problem i just want to make sure this is nothing i need to worry about, i plan on cutting off the cat and welding in a straight pipe so i dont have to worry about cat failure.

Thanks again for all the information, i look forward to gaining more from this community.

Congrats! I live like 10 minutes from Town North. Glad you liked them.

By the way, how does the GT weigh a couple hundred pounds more than the sport?

DSC, leather and a sunroof weigh that much?

The reason that doesn't make much sense is that the new R3 weighs 2064, pretty much the same as the 09 sport weighs according to yahoo autos. The sunroof should only add about 50-70 pounds.

????????????

Overall i am very happy with the sport because i have always had sunroofs in all my cars but never used it, had leather seats which were just too damn hot in the summer and this is the lightest car i own so my first mod is going to be putting on some new brakes and rotors.

I'm just curious, why the brakes and rotors? To me, those things seem to be some of the best stock parts on the car. Is there a need for better?

Sorry yeah mistype. I don't think a GT weighs hundreds of pounds more. Maybe 100 at the very most.

I don't know...when I was researching 8s before I bought I read somewhere that the base sport was just shy of 2800 lbs. But that could have been bad info, I don't know, I haven't weighed one. But reading that was one of the things that led me to look for a sport.

I can't find where I read that now, at least not with a quick search. If I find it I'll post it.

Also, don't forget about the powered seats and seat warmers and whatnot, but I have no idea how much that stuff weighs.

well currently the brakes are real loud. I read about how the dust collects so im going to try that first but even so it looks like the brakes are on the low side, i guess mod was the wrong word because i will just replace with stock pads, i was thinking about drilled/slotted rotors but its not like i will ever really use them besides the looks so i guess i can go without those.
