Question first time for everything

Ok, so I'm driving home on the hov lane which is a one lane carpool street in Houston, when my car turns off. Across the street I can see that damn Mazda dealership. So after 1 hour a wrecker picks me up and drops me off at the dealership. Mazda gives me a loaners and sends me off. They call me 2 days later and give me a strange story about how the rx8 has 2 fuel tanks and when one runs out, it transfers from the other. Well he explained to me that my transfer pump needed to be replaced. This is the first time my car has left me on the side of the road and its an 04. My question is, was I told correctly, or was Mazda making stuff up. I've searched this forum and found nothing of the sort. Sorry for no paragraphs, I'm writing this from my cell phone.

The RX8 does indeed use a type of saddle tank and the main fuel pump siphons fuel from one side to the other. Others on the site have delved into the pump and tank in more depth, perhaps they will offer more detail than I can.

THX for the feedback guys. Just wanted to know if mazda's story was legit. That head mechanic looks real shaddy, and I don't think he likes cops

This is correct. the tank sits below the rear seat and over the driveshaft. There is only one fuel pump. I supplies fuel to the engine and transfers fuel from the one side, of the fuel tank, to the other.
