And yes, it's true. I got a speeding ticket today going to work. And what pisses me off is that I always take that same road, and I go about the same speed all the time, mid 70s to 80. Well anyways, after speeding my way through the highway (didn't want to be late for work), I go up a hill and come down and guess what, 5 nice police cars are lined up.. I take the exit and well, one of the cops' comes behind me and flashes his lights and all and tells me to pull over.. And I do.. While me acting scared and nervous. His first question, "Do you have any reason why you were going that fast?" I replied, "because I didn't want to be late for work" .. Dumb answer.. Yes..
I forgot to add, I took off my seatbelt when I parked the car, and when he came up to me, he said "Ah, no seatbelt!" I was like oh no, I just took it off right now..

Anyway, he told me he clocked me going 75 on a 55. And what's some bs is that some cars next to me where about that same speed. But then I wait and wait.. And wait some more.. And he comes back again, and gives me the ticket. I asked him to please let me off with a warning since this was my first, he said he couldn't. Bastard..

So my ticket reads, 75 on a 55. And my fee.. Freaking $226!
F you cops! F you! Why don't I get love in the 8!

btw, anyone know how I can get this ticket reduced? This sucks..

Your lucky because I got caught redlining in a 50 zone...43over... Court date is Dec. 4th. Going to try and get the point removed. Hopefully the cop doesn't show and it will get thrown out of court. First ticket in 15 yrs.

Cops are just like anyone else - some are just trying to help everyone live safer lives, and some are powertripping ********.

For example, I worked with the cops for my previous job. This one cop would do radar ALL the time. She pulled over more cars than anyone. But she always gave warnings - never tickets. She just wanted everyone to slow down there and be safer.

There were other cops who were bullied as kids and decided to get back at everyone by being a cop. Those cops are the worst. They give tickets all the time, and give breaks to no one.

Sorry, no love for you here!

Those cops are doing their job job keeping those A$$hole drivers a little lighter on the gas pedal.

Divide that ticket into all the times you speed!! I bet you got off pretty light.

I know I push the limits often in any vehicle I drive, thats my fault!!

I've been pulled over twice since owning the '8 (since April)
One was 83 in a 55 the second was 61 in a 45 ... both warnings.
Hopefully my good luck streak will continue.

Speed limits are bullsh*t .... Vote Libertarian!

Different types of cars should have different speed ratings.

85 mph on the highway in an RX8 is a hell of a lot different than 85 mph in a Chevy Suburban.

Ohh and when you see several cops lined up running a speed trap like that it is a plain and simple fundraiser. Thats all.

I completely agree with you, but must add that the driver has to be taken into account. A new land should be added for a driver who can pass a performance driving test and has a nice car that can handle speed.

I think I top the speed list. Going from California to Ohio there is a few hundred mile sections in Nevada where the oncoming traffic is a mile to the left and you can see many miles ahead. Early moring no one around I gently accerarate to around 140. I didn't stay there but slowly resumed my normal 80 in the 75 limit. Within 30 seconds trooper on tial. No idea where he came from. This is my first traffic stop since 1979 and he walks up and says " I clocked you at 131 and you are going to jail. Went back to the cruiser and I'm see a major turn in life. He returns and no jail but a nice fat ticket. Best $500 I ever spent. The plus is Nevada does not report to all states so my insurance didn't go up.

Damn bro, that's rough..

But seriously, going mid 70s in a 55 zone or whatnot, should be a warning in a sports car..

As for me, the 55 limit in an expressway is bs.. If there isn't any cars around you and such, and you have 3 lanes of open space, why isn't going above 70 ok? That's what I faced. Open road, no cars, I go up a hill, come down, let go of the gas, and the 8 still stays at around 75 because I'm going down a hill, I take the exit and see 5 cops.. It gets me pissed.. It's not like I would harm anyone else. If I were a cop, I'd let myself slide. But yeh, the law is the freaking law.. And some speed limits are meaningless in some roads.

Today I went by the same road btw, I stayed at around 60, and yes, no cops.. That was cool.. And a freaking ricer POS civic passed me by going around 90.

that would be so awesome. i plan on getting my professional drivers license soon and that would be soo cool if cops would honor that. but there is one drawback, even though you or i may be able to drive a car nicely, i always worry about the 90% of idiots out there on the road. i think people should have to take an IQ test along with the drivers exam in order to get their license. there are some REALLY big idiots out there.

if you want to get rid of any ticket

first off, do NOT let the cop remember you, how ?

do NOT say 1 word, NOT a single word. period.

They ask you whatever, give them whatever. dont even try to beg for mercy, if they want to let you go, they will, begging does NOT help.

After you get your ticket, go for *not guilty*, wait for court order to come, Im not sure whats your state's law but there should be a limit on the *reschedule*, usually with 24-48 hours and no more than 3 times. remember to *reschedule* at the LAST LAST minute, then the 2nd time reschedule on the last minute again but on a different DAY.

Lets say your first summon is on a monday. then when you reschedule, make it a say, thursday. Cuz cops usually take 1 day off the weekday and 1 for the weekend, it depends on their schedule. Most cops DONT want to take an extra day off just to go to the court, cuz they have a limit on how many *days off* they can take, most likely they dont want to waste those case on not important stuff like speeding, and its almost the end of year. Most cops should've used all their *sick days* up already.

after 1st or 2nd time, the cop should be sick of preparing everything to go but end up *no go cuz reschedule*, unless you act like an ******* of course.

if the reschedule thing requires you to show up in person @ the court, sure not a problem, first off before the trial opens, check around the waiting room to see if the cop is here, if he is NOT here, you run into the court house and say *not guilty*, you will win, cuz the other party didnt show up. but if he IS in the courthouse waiting room, well, tell the judge in a tone that you feel *deeply* sorry, your lawyer probably got jumped on the way to court or something, in the other words, your lawyer is NOT here, please RESCHEDULE, until you hit the limit. Unless he really hates you for having a nicer car than his PoS american muscle crap. he will probably just say ***** it* and wont show up on the next one.

So check your state law first.

I got pulled over the other night for the first time doing a supposed 77 in a 35. I didn't buy it, cop cut it down to 45 in a 35 so it came out to $100. I'm still contemplating if I going to fight it. I just got into the throttle a little to hear the rotary scream coming out of a driveway and he happened to be going the other way. Funny thing is cop didn't not even tell me to slow it down or anything along those lines.

In the RX its hard to have any sense of speed, 120 in it feels like 60 in a my truck.

Its time to change speed limits or do something to reflect the huge improvement in technology since most speed limits were created. The RX can handle double the speed limit just about anywhere. Its dangerous with animals and people around, but just as dangerous as current speed limits, but the car can handle it no problem.

Funny how people hate cops when they get caught speeding but when they need something cops are the first ones they go to. Sucks to get caught doesn't it.

I got caught doing 120 in a 70. I was traveling even faster, but I saw a little guy on a bridge and noticed that was abnormal. So I started to slow down.

I've never gotten a break on tickets, but this time the guy gave me a ticket for 54 in a 45. So it cost me about $80 - $90. He didn't even ask me why I was going so fast. I assume at that speed no excuse matters.

^ I donno....

when I was a witness to an accident and went to court, I noticed the cops all arrived about 20 mins after everyone was asked to enter the court room. So checking for the guy isn't going to work in this situation.

I also hear the cops get paid overtime, something like 2-3 hours, and they're only there for an hour or so. Which means more $$ with less work.

if its a trial, like accident ones that you had, they allow witness to come a bit later, cuz you know how long it takes them just to *introduce* the trial ?

but if its just *Speeding* ticket, usually what you'll see is, the judge, you, and the *officer*(or whoever wrote you the ticket)

Cops do get paid overtime, yep its about couple of hours, but its usually saved for *important* events only, speeding ticket to them is like some small potato crap, unless of course, you act like a jerk when they gave u the ticket. Usually, cop use their off days to go on a speeding ticket trial.

There was around 40 cases going on at the same time. They swore everyone in at the same time, then went with the quick speeding ticket stuff first. Anyone who pleaded guilty went, when that was cleared up, they did the not guilty stuff. So I was there a good 90 minutes before they got to the case I was involved in.

2 hours guaranteed for anything court related. If your there longer we just add it to the subpoena. The most I have done for the 2 hours of pay is tell the judge what the defendant did wrong. Such hard work I tell ya. Next time you get pulled over make sure you call me during the stop

Not really. For the most part, everyone in that same road goes about the same speed I was going, so for me, that wasn't speeding. Just unfortunate that they were actually cutting down that time..

And yes, first time I meet a cop when getting pulled over and the reaction, an a-hole. I know you want to defend your people, but it sure gave them a bad name on that day they stopped me. So F em.. I don't need cops in my life.. Not even in an emergency. Plus, when you need them, they aren't anywhere to be found.

I love cops and I just got my 29th speeding ticket 2 weeks ago.. I know there doing there job and I dont bother arguing with them, I just take it and hire a lawyer. I will agree that a few of them where BS and they really could have let me off with a warning, like a 63 in a 55. On the other hand, this last one who pulled me said he was going 120 for 3 miles to catch up to me, I wanted to say, "thats because your driving a dodge" but he let me off with exceeding the posted speed limit and didnt list how fast I was going. We all know we have been guilty at one time or another of driving our 8's WAY to fast... I suggest checking to see if you have prayer for judgement in your state, they drop the ticket but you cant get one within a 3 year time period or they stick it to you

I'm not defending my "people." My comment was based on the fact that you said you always speed down that same road. You finally got caught and you hate the cop that wrote you a ticket. By your own statement you knew what the speed was and you knew you were exceeding it. You got caught and it sucks. Your not the only one. Don't hate someone for something you did wrong.

"...Yes, 106 is a little fast." (I didn't want to confess right there on the side of the road, so I just agreed with his general statment)
