Hmmm...I suspect Karen is monitoring our responses but is too scared to respond.
If you are going to pick on a group of individuals to do your reporting think of the rate of accidents and people killed already on our roads without encouraging more. Your reporting will actualy everyones efforts to lower the road toll.
Do you want to be labelled as...
"that idiot"
"attention-seeking a*hole"
"worst reporter of all time"
I can't think of anymore right now but think about it Karen....its not worth losing all of your integrity, or your career....

enforcer, that's a good point. Anyone who takes Ms. Welles up on her offer is going to be encouraged to do illegal things for the sake of the camera. At the end of the day when the roll is shot, Ms. Welles and her crew will shake the speeders' hands and say "thanks a lot" and go home. The report will air, the speeders will be blasted on it, and the viewers will say "aren't those people terrible!" But they won't do anything about it because the speeders are just another in a long parade of "terrible people" on the news and the damage Karen Welles causes by encouraging this activity during production will not be undone.
Karen Welles, you should be ashamed. You're the stereotype of the leeches in the media today who care about nothing more than ratings and profit. If you had any deceny you'd resign and go work for a tabloid; at least people are aware of how full of **** they are.

I'd like to add something that no one has mentioned (at least I didnt see anything). From the few places we've found that you posted, you didnt have an enthusiastic or supportive reply. I'd like to see these good responses (or better responses) if you truly have had good responses.

I'd never speak for the rest of you guys, but I am SICK AND TIRED of sensationalist/tabloid journalism. I swear...local news seems no better than Inside Edition or Entertainment Tonight when it comes to news these days. I guess that's a sad commentary about our culture though.
Karen, maybe it's just how my momma raised me, but I'm sorry that your feelings were obviously hurt. As has been said before, most of the folks on this board are income-earning adults that have worked very hard to have something nice like our cars, and we're smart enough not to put ourselves, or ESPECIALLY others at risk by street racing. If you would have searched for "street racing" before you posted your request, you might have found that it is highly frowned upon here.
As mentioned earlier, you might check the Honda forums. Lots more kids there that are naive about what you're trying to do and may be happy to brag about how fast they think they are. If you notice from the YouTube link posted earlier, nearly every car featured/shown in that piece was a Honda. There's a reason...they're cheap and there is a huge aftermarket for performance modifications = ripe for teenage racers.
Perhaps the responses would have been better if you better explained exactly what kind of spin you're intending to put on your story. Perhaps we assumed what that spin will be (rightly so?)...hence the response. Looking forward to reading your next post!

There was a thread started a couple days ago about a forum member who got his car totaled by a street-racing ******* in a G35. You can go there to find out how people on this board feel about street racing.
I'm sure your viewers would be delighted to learn you are trying to get their kids killed. Go away.
