Excessive tailpipe smoking?

Yesterday, after about a 10 minute drive in stop-and-go traffic, I parked and the smoke streamed out of my right tailpipe (not the left) for about 1 to 2 minutes after engine shutdown.

I've never had this happen before.

Weather conditions were rainy and cold (about 38 degrees).
Driving style was moderate - never avove 6,000 rpm.

Do I have reason for concern?

Whitish looking (like steam kinda thing) or was it dark? Since it has been cold and rainy here a lot I get tons of "white" coming out my tailpipes (pleural), essentially a steam kinda thing.

I had black smoke for a little while because I had a loose spark plug. Of course, I also had a burning smell at the same time, though. I no longer have any of those problems, just mileage that totally sucks when it drops below 40 degrees outside.

Yeah, I agree with the "Rabbit." The color is really indicative of what is going on. Maybe more water or something got into one tip. I get steam looking stuff coming out all of the time. Never black smoke though. However, I did have GREEN smoke come out of my old Chevelle once. Then the engine cracked.

It was definitely white.

It's just weird to have rain in winter here in Iowa. Usually it's 10 inches of snow!

I feel much better now.

If its white make sure it doesn't smell sweet like almonds. I think that means coolant leak or something (basically new engine time.)

Stop smoking your tail pipe.... at least dial it back a bit.

Edit: Sorry someone had to say it!
