Excessive tailpipe smoking?
Yesterday, after about a 10 minute drive in stop-and-go traffic, I parked and the smoke streamed out of my right tailpipe (not the left) for about 1 to 2 minutes after engine shutdown.
I've never had this happen before. Weather conditions were rainy and cold (about 38 degrees). Driving style was moderate - never avove 6,000 rpm. Do I have reason for concern? |
Whitish looking (like steam kinda thing) or was it dark? Since it has been cold and rainy here a lot I get tons of "white" coming out my tailpipes (pleural), essentially a steam kinda thing.
I had black smoke for a little while because I had a loose spark plug. Of course, I also had a burning smell at the same time, though. I no longer have any of those problems, just mileage that totally sucks when it drops below 40 degrees outside. |

It was definitely white.
It's just weird to have rain in winter here in Iowa. Usually it's 10 inches of snow! I feel much better now. |
If its white make sure it doesn't smell sweet like almonds. I think that means coolant leak or something (basically new engine time.)

Stop smoking your tail pipe.... at least dial it back a bit. :o:
Edit: Sorry someone had to say it! |
