yeah a professor in some engineering field at the university i attend stopped by my business the first month I had mine and was so excited about it and wanted to know every detail, I don't know if he ever got one though.

check your diploma, it should say "professional" on it, mine does

I never took the PE, since there was no reason to in any of my feilds, but I believe you have to take a specific PE exam to call yourself an enginner in Texas / Canada. Just because your diploma says "professional" doesn't mean you're a licensed PE. Is your dipolma from DeVry?
At the univeristy I went to only the Civil enginners took the PE exam, since it was a waste of time and money if you weren't going into government jobs, where they required it. Everyone else was going to work for Intel, Microsoft, IBM, etc, where they ask you questions in an interview to see if you know what you are talking about instead of relying on a piece of paper that says you did 24 years ago.

I'd say it's equivalent to a Masters Degree in most places. Looks good on a resume, but generally doesn't really matter all that much in the real world. There it's mostly about experience and if they like you. It generally is a bump in pay, though, just like a Masters.

Does Architecture count? I'm very technically minded, and that is what made me like cars, and especially the rotary.
As a person in an engineering field, I live by the "K.I.S.S." motto. Keep it Simple Stupid! Rotaries are highly engineered to be the simplest in the actual functioning.

Chemical Engineer. Pharmaceutical Bussiness. Drag racing fan for last 10 years, now since I got the RX8, fan of Rolex Series, Speed Challenge, etc,etc. Currently I am into Solo racing, mods in car Racing beat catback, intake, sway bars, Hp pads, enkei wheels with Falken Azenis 615, very close to heaven.

Just glancing through this thread was evidence enough...I know for a fact that a lot of people who've posted aren't real engineers (ie didn't take an accredited 4 year degree program).
Even then in Canada you can't use the word "Engineer" in your job title unless you're a *Professional Engineer* (have to work 4 years after graduation and then apply for this title). It's honestly an insult to people that worked their *** off and understand the ethics and responsibility of being an engineer.
Right now the CCPE is in talks with Microsoft to remove "Engineer" from the MCSE designation, for example.
Here's what I mean (from this thread):
- Computer Science Engineer
- Cabinet Engineer
- Network Engineer
- Turbo-machinery engineer
- Software quality engineer
- Graphic Design Engineer

All my friends who ARE engineers think that the "engineer" designation in "industrial engineer" is completely bogus. Do you agree?
