Aerospace Engineer here and also a pilot. I'd love to get that Renessis into a small homebuilt aircraft.

My roomate in college had an '83 RX7, and that's when I caught the bug. It was a lot more fun to drive than my VW Scirocco. I've owned 3 VW's and 3 Mazda's over the last 15 years.

My wife is an Electrical Engineer, and she won't drive an automatic. RX8 6SP-GT fits us well.

Yep, read about this strangeness a few months ago. Looks weird even by Rotary standards.

I'm in a building full of engineers, but I'm the only one with an RX8.....maybe it just hasn't caught on here yet. That ok! I like having the only sexy car in the parking lot. A couple of 350Z's, corvettes, charger, mustang....yep, I have the only RX8.

One more engineer here. Electrical, working in power, especially DC. Think 750Vdc and 2000A. I test drove a new 1980 RX-7 while still in college, and have since owned '81, '83, '85, and '88 RX-7s. I was initially attracted to the 350Z when I went shopping for a new sports coupe, but one drive in the 8 convinced me it is a better all-around sports car.

Now if I just made more time to drive it.....

I want one soooooo bad. At least you don't have to have the rotor revolve 3 times for the output shaft to turn once. That should give better performance and better gas mileage and you can still go to high rpm!

I know what you mean. I started working in this field while I was still in college and found that I was pretty talented at it. When I graduated I found that I'd take a paycut to work for a studio, so I just went full force in Real Estate, and decided hey...someday I'll open my own studio.

Art is my passion, but it doesn't pay the bills.

I totally agree Aerohead, it's light weight, smoothness and relative simplicity make it really appealing for GA type aircraft, I'd love to see it done.

Electrical Engineer, BSEE & P.E. by day - House renovator/flipper by night. - I don't sleep much.

I bought the car with money I made flipping houses, not the engineering salery so does that count?

Cool Engineers,

I just applied at Robert Morris for Software Engineering, and my girl loves the RX-8, she goes to Purdue for Chemical Engineering. Quite a coincidence.

I'm an Electrical Engineer that designs glass cockpit avionics for homebuilt aircraft. When we designed an engine monitor I made sure that the RPM input could monitor a rotary at 10K+ RPM

My wife's an EE as well.

Not an Engineer,
But if you can build it I can take it apart and make it better.
Like the RX-8 just the way it is.

I love this one Ya'll feel gooder now.

This forum gives me so many chances to flaunt my ignorance. What's "flipping" houses?

Flipping houses is buying a house as an investment (often a reposessed home) and then doing some work on it and selling it at a profit. If the market is really hot you can just hold it for awhile and still make money on it without doing anything to it. It is going on a lot in the past couple of years but to make it work over the long term you really do have to know what you are doing.
