Dyno results!
I was pretty impressed with the power she put down.
191hp 145tq to the wheels on a DynoDynamic. I will post the dyno chart when I get to a scanner. I was pretty impressed because most people say they dyno below 180hp.

Sounds like someone that has never driven the car. It is what it is, an econobox wiht crank back windows and MOUNTAINS of power for a four cylinder. I love my 8 for all it is, but the power is incomparable with the Neon... Tourque steer isn't so bad for such a powerful FWD'er, braking is mroe then adequate and handling is surprisingly good. I would talk more shtuff about a limp civic SI or the nose heavy understeering 350z before that car...

Huge hole is huge
^ Eh, all of those cars that you listed don't interest me, hence me getting an RX-8
Then again, that's my opinion, and everybody is entitled to theirs. In Joplin, every single person who has an SRT-4 thinks they are the hottest **** on 4 wheels. It makes me laugh when they floor it off the stop light only to go 3 blocks and stop again.

It's a Cavalier
Do you have any idea what it looks like to race a car that traps 123mph in a car that traps 95mph?

Nice numbers... not familiar with a DynoDynamic, but from what I'm seeing, it reads lower than a dynojet. Mods?

you can trash my srt all you want... why should I listen to you? what have you done that puts you up so high you can pass judgement about something you have never seen or experienced. It isn't a street car, it isn't a cornering machine, it is purpose built for one thing.... going fast. I cut 1.66s 60ft's all day long, how many rx8's can do that? how many rx8's have ever trapped 123mph without spray? I love driving the rx8, me and my wife bought it to have a fun car to daily drive as well as autocross and have fun with.
Read the article in grassroots motorsports about the srt-4.

Agreed. A **** car can be turned into awesome with work. I mean, hell, one of my goals in life is to turn a Geo Metro into a 10 second car :3

Lol, funny how a guy posts about his RX-8 and nearly everyone trashes his SRT-4. Who cares, the guy is not all into straight line speed if he has a RX-8. I bet 80% of the people have never even been to a track, 1/4 mile, or SCCA event.

i've even been at the track with srt-4. i was stock, he was almost stock. (CAI) he couldnt post better times than i could.
of course, he was a shitty driver. at least the car matched the driver.
and sorry for getting your ruffles in a bunch. but a turbo econobox is still an econobox. i'd be embarrassed to drive around in an srt-4.

your right, 11.5 isn't that fast, we're in the process of building the crap out of the block and tranny. Should be able to shave almost a second of the et once it all comes back together. Then tell me that isn't fast in a fwd car.

that is pretty fast for a wrong-wheel drive car.
still doesnt change the fact that its wrong-wheel drive...
seriously.. lets think about it... when you accelerate weight transfer to the back of the car and off the front of the car. and you want to put your accelerating tires where?

Of course, if this was an apples to apples comparison, we wouldn't be talking about a sports car with an econobox to begin with.

btw, the reason I bought the rx8, best handling car you can buy used for $14,000. I wanted a car that would be competitive but could remain stock. I did my research comparing the rx8 to the s2000 and a few others. In the end, the pricetag is what lured me in. With gas prices being what they are, the 8's aren't holding their value at all which worked out nicely. Me and my wife don't drive that much around town so the gas prices haven't really been an issue.
