You drive it normally at 4-5k? I let it sit about 3k cruising. Am I doing it wrong? Lol

Not at all - I think RIWWP just likes to feel the rush when he nails the throttle .

I've had mine for three years now and treat 3500 rpm as my minimum, just based on how it responds there. Of course, there's at least once per trip where I'll find a place to hit the rev limiter. The rest of the time, I drive it like I stole it, but want to keep it...which confuses my wife

3k is probably the more accurate rpm for legal driving speeds.

dcs issue?

I have owned my RX8 about a year now (2005 manual with 39,000). The car has always had a bit of a hop when you power it around a corner, even from a stop. Got a chance to ride in another RX 8 today and it did not do this. Turning off the dcs and tcs smoothed it out in mine. I have no error codes on my diagnostic unit or on the dash. I did note that once I turn off this dcs, I have to turn the car off to turn it back on, hitting the switch does not turn it back on.

I searched using the rx8club.com on Google, but could not find a lot that helped. Any thoughts on diagnosing this?

There is a difference in the rolling diameter between the 4 wheels. Tire size or tire pressures are the most common.

The RX-8 exhaust system has only 3 major parts:
The header
The catalytic converter
The muffler

The BHR midpipe completely replaces the catalytic converter, fitting perfectly with the header and the muffler.

I believe that is part of the reason we all bought one.

So here is another way to look at it:

The rotary engine loves revs. It's power is up top, it has no torque down load, and can get carbon choked to death if it only ever stays down low. So the very nature of a rotary engine is higher revs. It only has 3 moving parts, and they handle high rpm very very well. Why? Because nothing is stopping and starting, it's just spinning. The engine is also very small, so there isn't much mass that is actually spinning around. So high rpm is nothing to be afraid of at all, and high rpm is not considered "abuse".

If you stay low, driving it like a piston engine, you will find that it is even more gutless than common opinion, and you will be killing it from choking it to death with carbon. So low rpm lugging is "abuse" for a rotary, high rpm is where it loves to be.

This behavior may be considered as abuse by piston engine standards, but it's not. You can't "beat the s**t out of it" though, in that you can't ignore the maintenance. You have to pay close attention to what it's telling you. Ignition health, oil health, and cooling system health are critical to maintain at high levels. Let something slip and cascading failures will give you a rather painful kick in the ***.

Now, all that being said, high rpm does generate a lot of heat. So don't just sit up in high rpm cruising there all the time, you are just cooking the engine and transmission. It loves going full throttle to redline, but then shift and let the engine cruise around 4-5k when you are just driving around. It's happy there.

thank you!!

The aem cai should come with a protective sock in the box. Sounds like they are trying to rip you off a lil

Question Copy AUX Key

Hi,I have 2006 RX-8,and have a question.

Only smart key(card type) and no AUX Key.
With that I start the engine,open/close doors,trunk.

As you know, smart key should be within the range,
without it I can't start the car.

I'm worrying about if I lost the smart key..So,
I'm planning to copy AUX key, ordered AUX key(uncut).

If I(Mazda dealer or soemthing) success to copy(program)
the AUX key and can start engine,

then what will happen to the smart key?

Can I still use it,start the engine?
(just aftraid, program erased when copying AUX key)

Can anybody answer to me?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have a smart key so I'm not sure, but my understanding of vehicle security systems is that when the dealer programs the spare (aux) key, they will mate it with the security module of the car. Your smart key is already mated to the security module of the car. So I don't think you need to worry that mating a spare key will invalidate the smart key pairing.

Please confirm before taking my word for it though.

There is no pistons rotors 12a 13b and 20b are what is still alive today. Came from airplanes in Japan a woman made the engine. Now u know there is no pistons and the reason they cost so much.

Who's question are you answering?

FYI the rotary was invented in Germany by Dr Felix Wankel, not invented in Japan. Your statement may be correct for Mazda, I dunno

I was refering to him claiming some japanese chick built the first rotary for mazda. I have no idea who built their first.

This is all irrelevant lol

Am aware, just saying that a female was not involved in the development of the rotary engine.

Considering Japanese culture of the early 60's woman had little and any rights in Japan during that time and little education. The fact to think that one was on the design or engineering team and or assembly plant during that time its to believe the world is flat.

Besides the first Mazda production rotary was achieved under Kenichi Yamamoto and his team which was a full male cast. Also I believe Felix left Mazda before a production engine was achieved and moved to work with NSU which achieve a production car before Mazda but had a lot of complications and the brand was later sold off and purchased by VW

It should be fine. The aux key won't override or erase the smart key. They'll both work.
