Sure this has been answered many times: Oil to use? I see alot of posts saying new Synthetic oil is OKAY to use, and alot of posts saying to use nothing but dyno oil.

This isn't a flame ..... but there are plenty of oil threads out there .... just do some searching you'll find them no problem.

Let's not drag this thread in to the endless debate PLEASE ..... lets just end it here by saying

It's really up to you ..... do some reading and use what you are comfortable with ...

I say this because there are 2 firmly entrenched camps on this debate and you'll never get 100% agreement

Honestly I would like an anser to my dumb question:

Is it normal for the fog lights to turn OFF when using the brights?

there are a few threads showing how to wire them where they do not turn off with the high beams on...u can also wire them to come on with the parking lights

yea I rewired mine so that you can turn them on independently without any other lights on. It's really simple. As for if it's normal, I never noticed that, so I dunno.

Yup I have noticed that too. When you flash your high beams the fogs turn off. However ever since I did the fog rewire they stay on when I flash my high beams

RX8 Convertible

After my 8, er, dies.. I'm thinking about doing some custom work to make it into a convertible. Of course planning would be involved, just a thought/project for after it dies so I can replace the engine and other things and get involved in that.

What do you think?

P.S. I'd prefer a hardtop to just take off on nice sunny days, similar to vipers, corvettes, and even old school blazers

Turning it into a convertible would be a wholeeeee lot of work. The way the car is set up with suicide doors might make it even harder than it would be on most cars to get it to work right and look good... It could probably be done. Anything can be done. But I think you would be looking at a lot more work and hassle than it would be worth

Kind of dumb questions, search is a killer, anyways.

1: Anybody elses fuel gauge needle fluctuat like 2~3 lines consitently? Like go up then down then up again?

2: Ever had a case of the "shakes"? In the mornigs I'll let my car warm up for like 2 mins and take off. I'll keep in auto mode so it'll stay low on rpms but sometimes I'll be in 3rd doing around 30 and it feels like the engine will start to shake. One time it shook so bad I had to pull over to let the car warm up some more.

3: Is it true shifting from D to reverse unlocks the motors super secret awesomeness mode... couldn't resist a real dumb one.

NOTE: WELL AWARE ITS BEEN DONE

but how many have you seen in person? plus mine doesnt even have a sun roof, and i miss my convertible, so if my car is "done" for, then i'll mess around when i have another vehicle to drive.. and i have all the right tools to make something like it happen.. i got plenty of time and willing friends, so its just a thought

If all else fails... part out

Yeah, it'll make you dial road side assistance, and get a ride from the big boy.

1. Nah, I haven't heard of the fuel gauge doing that

2. Sometimes the engine can get bogged down at really low RPMs and start making it feel like its shaking. But 30mph in 3rd shouldn't be low enough RPMs to make it do that (with a manual transmission atleast. Not sure about auto.) What RPM is it usually at when this happens?

3. Oh yeah! Definitely! haha

im not sure where its done, but they do do a vacuum type procedure where it gets every single bit of that oil for a complete oil change, you best look it up.. google

idk how i missed this... but this has happened to me twice since thursday. a member said its bad sparks/coils/wires. i have new sparks, wires, and 1 new coil.
whats odd is the second time it happened, i'd already been driving around for a good while already.. but i turned on cruise control at just the right spot, and it was going up and down and stopped when i turned it off, and then i tried again and it was fine.. kind of unexplainable, but you arent alone

2: you could be dealing with a faulty front o2 sensor, which is why it only shakes when it is cold. that would be my best guess, because my subaru bucked back and forth with a bad front o2 sensor while driving. otherwise it could be a grounding issue

Your fuel gauge jumped up and down or your RPM gauge did?
