I'll play. Can running your car with the oil level 1/2-1qtr low free up/produce more power like a piston engine due to less/no oil slosh?

To help keep it from flooding. Better is to always drive the car to warm rather than starting it for a couple minutes and shutting it off.

^That all depends on a few things. With a well maintained ignition system, starter and engine, there should be no issues...

The prior owner of the 2005 I had flooded it 3 times (1 of those was his new wife). He only had it for 20k, and each time they put in new plugs. So, I almost always ran it to warm or held the rs up and shut it off as they went down. I never flooded it and I have told the subequent owner to do the same. There is another reason to warm the 2004/2005s up - to reduce the milky crap in the oil in cooler temps (like under 40).

The rotary engine creates a very loud intake sound.

Basically an acoustic silencer of sorts.
So if I take that little black box off my intake would be louder?

This is what I'm told.
I've not personally tried it.

However all you have to do is look at the AEM setup or even the Revi which are louder. The do not have an acoustic canceller

Yes you bought an engine for a series II RX8 2009+ and it will not work with a series 1.

Whoa, you need to slow down, think about what you want to type, and re-read your message before hitting that "post reply" button.
(Sorry, I know this thread is meant to avoid "flaming", but C'MON! At least attempt proper grammar, people!! )

Anywho, the engines for the 09 and later (series II) are very different than the 04-08 models. If you can, return the purchased engine and look for one from a series I car. Trying to continue will be a headache for you and everyone here...

We've had these discussion before on this forum.
IMO it's more a generational thing than a text (sms) thing.

While the above statement may or may not be true (I have no "data" to back it up) what I do know from personal experience is that;

On this forum if you don't care about the quality of your post, don't expect anybody to care about how they respond.

I think its got to do with respect (again a guess).

The only time I see this rule ignored is for those posters where English is not their first language.

So redline, this is not a direct retort to your post (of flame) but more a general statement that I hope new members understand.

So, for all the new members your experience will be much improved on this forum if you put some effort in to grammar and spelling.
Just saying ...

The oil coolers keep the oil temp low if you are cruising on the highway with ambient temp below 40F (5C). Even though the oil coolers have thermostats the oil is always flowing in the hoses and across the top of the oil coolers. The temperatures I've seen are 160F (72C ) which is low enough to produce the white foam regardless of warm-up.
Best approach is to install oil cooler covers in cold weather and add an oil temp gauge to monitor results. Aim for 180F (82C) to 195 (90C) oil temp (measured at the oil filter) when cruising in cold weather.

IMO grammar is just a means of written communication. Communication varies from culture to culture so naturally the written form should change. I don't feel we should shape the way we write based on a set of rules that don't apply to how we speak hence Latin is dead. My English professor would try and hit me right now if she knew I was saying this lol. The reason I say txting has made spelling obsolete is because as a culture we have found ways of communicating with shortened purposely misspelled words. Still as a culture we tend to view spelling as a lack of intelligence in a professional work place even though we view the strict guidelines of English grammar as pointless and annoying.
I think our culture is changing. In the lab I work in professional people, even upper management of our hospital I find that people are caring less about making e-mails so formal because it lacks emotion. People tend to find things written properly boring whereas reading something as a person would speak tends to give more personality.

Anywho I hope this guy can get his money back for that Series II engine. That would suck paying all that money then getting stuck with a engine you can't use. Guess he could always try and sell it on here if that turns out to be the case.

Txting was also initially performed on phones with a 9 digit keypad.
That, I believe had more to do with it than any cultural aspect.
(I wonder if it would be different if we just started with qwerty keyboards on phones)

Don't confuse my position on poor grammar and spelling with well placed acronyms, like:

IIRC
TTYL
LOL
BTW

I have no issue with common phrases being shortened like this especially when txting (or posting if they are correctly inserted)

What I do not like to see is this:

"i am having problems with my rx8 its got no powers. the other day at the lights the idle was really rough then at the next set of lights it died. so i htough i would do a redline to get the carbon out and on the ramp the highway i revvd to 9k but it would not go then it all most died and it would go over 4ooo revs. help whats wrong with my car its a red one."

LOL Anyways ... no caps, no double space after period, no commas, and just one big wall of text without any hard returns.

In one hundred years that is how people will speak, and geniuses will have IQ's of 85. Look at the rate stupidity breeds.

To zoo_yorker99, I think it would be cheeper to just buy another engine than it would to try and do a Series II conversion. Has anyone one here actually done a Series II swap? This would be the first guy I've seen attempt this in the couple years I've been on here.
