Does the Missing B-Pillar Hurt Us?

In terms of the body flexing? Do you think the underbody bracing ideas are worth the money?

Thoughts?

High torsional rigidity is one of the RX-8 many features, Google 'torsional rigidity+rx-8' and you will find many links. The RX-8 also has underbody bracing stock. But that didn't stop me from getting the Autoexe subframe brace LINK I only got it because I track me car, on the street you would never notice it.

expo, what do you notice with the subframe when you are on the track? I have considered this in the past but not knowing its affect on the car has made we think twice.

Cheers

Between the Racing Beat Sways, Strut Tower braces & R-compound tires it's hard to say if one item contributes more than another. Other than the costs there isn't a negative to the subframe brace. What I do know is I am am quite happy with the way my 8 drives on the track but still is civil on the street.

How about ground clearance? Any issues with the brace?

the missing B-pillar results in extra weight needed to build the 'hidden' B pillar within the rear doors

a traditional 2 door 2+2 would've saved quite a bit of weight, but then we'd lose the practicality of what the 8 offers now

You mean the safety bar in the rear door. That does help for sure.

Once at a car wash, but I don't go there anymore.

The safety bar is tied into the subframe with a set of load pins. Those are the bullet nose pins you have no doubt noticed on your door. I thought that was one of the coolest things when i saw that, me being a nerdy mechanical engineer.
