the only reason ppl talk **** about the 8 is becuase they have no clue about rotaries and they hear oh rotaries blow up alot so they are slow or that oh it's only a 1.3L then hell a geo metro is the same so it has to b slow just looks nice alot of dumbasses in the world but u just deal with it and say **** you.....honda boy!!!!

I had some jack hole with a cb radio yell to me as he was driving that my rx8 is slow. He was driving a 99 pontiac grand prix.

So tell me who looks like the idiot? Yep, the jack hole in the grand prix. I ignore ppl like that who have no clue what they are talking about. It doesn't even make me mad. I laugh in fact. Then roast the tires as they hear the sound of my turbo spool up....

That's exactly why I don't race in the mountains. Sure I like to go for a cruise and enjoy the handling of my car but I will never push it to the point of unsafe driving where I will put others in danger. That's what the tracks are for.

Ok guys, first of all I know the car isn't slow, and I have only had one person ever say to my face "it's a slow car" and that was some kid trying to talk crap in the gym that I used to go to school with, he told me he had a "japan" honda civic (e26 i think he said?) and I just kind of laughed him off. I was mostly talking online here like that article that was posted were the guy LOVED the rx-8 and half the comments were "too bad the car is slow". Trust me I did have some friends that ragged on me about the car being slow, until I took them to some back roads and had some fun with the car.

Btw you live on exit 9 haha no way I live right off of exit 13N, I' rarely see rx-8's around here at all, I'm the bright yellow one, even though theres another one that lives in about Lake George.

back the point though, I don't think the car is slow, and the whole drag racing thing isn't for me, I just think the car is fast, and yeah If you go from car X to car Y you might think it's slow but not really. By the way my Mom's Camry is a 2000 guys LOL, either way I don't care if a camry IS faster than me from stop light to stop light, no one is going to ask you "what kind of car is that" or "wow nice car dude" to you in a Camry.

wtf there is a LY rx8 around here? I am a WB with the CF front lip, HKS single ti exhaust, and hyperblack 5zigen wheels. I cruise with a white AP1 s2000 that has white work emotions and the ASM front bumper. We should definitely meet up sometime, I've NEVER met a local rx8 guy that knew **** in the area. PM me dude we can cruise some time.

Wow...you don't think too highly of the RX-8 crew, do you? I call it slow based on the other cars I've driven and tuned. That doesn't mean that I think any less of the car or the speed it's capable of in the right hands. Although I do agree that you have to understand the powerband of the rotary and how to drive it, my comment makes me a dipshit (or at least by default I'm given a 75% chance of being one)? Hm...

The RX-8 was the fastest car I've driven until my recent run in with a slightly modified RX-7 Turbo II. Slow is a mere relative term.

I also have to agree. As far as "Enjoyment" is concerned, yes I enjoy every aspect of my car too. Every car has it's flaws, some cars for example are not very comfortable to drive, other cars are too expensive for what they provide.

The RX8 represents to me, that "sweet spot" of ride comfort, styling, sound, comfortable agility and overall "theater" of driving a car.

So if someone pulls up next to me in a new Lexus coupe and wants to race. I'll say sure, but only on a track. (Here in Canada you get caught racing = You loose your car & License) (Most ghost cars, try to get you to race)

Essentially I don't race on the streets. So.... what does it matter how fast any car can accelerate? what does it matter if I don't own a Porsche or a Lexus? The RX8 is as sexy as the best looking cars out there. Costs 50% LESS, and delivers 100% of the looks and 80% of the performance.

Being happy with "a" car, you have to appreciate more than the numbers. You simply choose to appreciate it. Most people can't appreciate anything they own... for long.

I'm also fond of telling people that ask if it's fast that it only really needs is the first gears. The other 3 gears are just there to tell you how long you'll be in jail for if you use them the way you want to.

Absolutely! Also, I've owned a couple C5 Vettes before the RX8..hiatus. Anyway, I've found that whatever you own, someone will come up with something quicker..ask John Force or any other pro racer. Hell, I've seen Ferraris get beat like a cheap drum.

Fast, yes, quick..not so. Balanced, definitely. It is what it is. If someone else doesn't like your ride, scruem. Probably low life mouth breathers anyway, and why should we try to impress someone we don't know or care about anyway...Scruem!

like I cared about those Civics ? I love it when those kids, after being brainwashed by 2F2F. keep revving their engines, its so loud cuz they have some of the biggest exhaust tips, full throttle down and stuff, howEVER ! their car just wont move as fast as it sound, in fact, a SUV move faster than that Civic. The 8 is one of the fastest cars on the road when winding it out on a curvy moutain road. The only thing that can keep up to it is other like sportscars. You can wave Goodbye to all the High power 4 door sedans. I know for a fact it will also stay on the rear bumber of any acura or honda on the straights all the way to 120 mph (without downshifting to 5th). Throw in a curve and you will pass them. Too much fun.

I really think a lot of the "your car is slow" comments are made out of ignorance about what the 8 was designed for. The stock RX8 just is not a drag car, period. But like many others have said take out on some twisties and have some fun.

I used to work with these boys who constantly wanted to stop light race me. One drove A Lexus IS 300, another drove a Mustang Cobra. I always refused, but one day they asked me and I said "Sure you two go make sure the parking lot is clear and I'll set up the cones." They didn't bother me after that.

Most of the negative comments I have received about my car have been made out of jealousy and they are not usually about the speed. More about me being spoiled or a bitch, just because of my car. Whatever. F*ck haters.

Well, there will always be exceptions like the evo and the G8. But Just about nothing else qualifys right now. 275 hp Camerys and accords are a joke but think they can keep up to a 8 on the road. They always lose over any distance. It's good they think the 8 is slow. Just gives me more chances to spank them in my element. Thanks for your slow comment about me

Fast is a relative term, in 1969 anything running a 5.xx to 60 and a 14.xx 1/4 mi was blazing fast by muscle car standards enough to lay the smack down on your average small block 350s, 298s, 302s, 390s or 318s. Only the top of the line big-block equipped cars broke a 13 sec 1/4.

You can get cars that are a bit quicker than the 8 but none that ride or handle as well while seating 4 and looking as good as it does at its price point. 5.9 to 60 and a low 14 1/4mi (per C&D) are considered "fast" car numbers to me. Hell the 00-05 Mustang GT only ran a 5.5 to 60 14.3 1/4 with 4.6 liters and a pitufull 260hp for its displacement while riding and handling like complete ***. The GM ponys were alot better in handling and acceleration but the ride still sucked and you got stuck with a ******* carpeted driveshaft tunnel between the unusable rear seats with a playskool designed interior to boot. So to all the detractors I say: I can live with the 8s shortcomings alot easier than you can with your cars on a day to day basis for sure.

The rx8 is an accomplished car. That's how I feel driving it. I never get tired of it. Even on a 10 day 3000 mile trip. It's so complete.
