Does any1 else hear a rubbing in first gear?
Does any1 else hear a rubbing in first gear?
This has happened even when I bought the car. I probably just thought it was normal, but now that its summer and I have the windows open more often, I hear this much more.
When I take off in first, I know that sometimes you get that 1 clunk that is because of part of the ABS system. However this is a bit different (and sometime I will video tape it). It basically just sounds for like the first maybe 1-2k RPMS that there are gears rubbing or something. Its such a hard sound to describe, but it just sounds like a rub until you get above the 1-2.5K RPM range. It may still even be there but you just dont hear it because the engine whine becomes louder than the noise. Any one else had this issue?
Also since I want to minimize posts in here anyways, I'll include a second unrelated question as well (and if none of you have already guessed, my RX8 is falling apart. Bought it 3 months ago, and have learned many valuable skills from this car because when something goes wrong, I am giving it my best to fix it. But unfortunately it seems like I just went in blind and bought an abused rotary.), so you can tell me "We all told you so", but I dont love the car any less. In fact, I love learning to do/fix all of these things from the DIYs on this site. So I appreciate all every one has posted on here. I genuinely mean it, thank you. Because I wouldnt have been able to own this car without you all telling me how to do all of these things. But unfortunately once it gets into having transmission/exhaust problems as well as engine problems, I just do not have the skills/tools to do those things.
Anyways, unrelated question: Twice now when I have backed my car out of my garage, I have seen 2 large deposits underneath it that appear to be a thick grease. Does any one know what that might be? To be the most graphic I can get, it looks like silver poop on my garage floor. And the first time I saw it, it was actually quite a large deposit, probably about a handfull. I havent seen it in 3 weeks or so, but today I did. Wasnt a lot, just a small smear on the garage floor. No idea what it is though. I stuck a flashlight under the bumper and looked up but couldnt see any piece that had this kind of substance on it.
