A friend of mine was curiouse about the 0-60 time on the 6 spd auto. Thought i would share it here because there is not that many stock auto rx8 videos. A quick run on the way home from work turned out to be a better one, android quality isnt the greatest. About 6.5 to 7 seconds, a great improvement over the old 4 spd autos!

yeah its not to bad. My wankle is less than 10k old, never got a compression test done but she feels silky smooth and healthy. Unfortunatly my CEL for the catalyst has returned and i am certain its either bad or on its way out. Maybe with the midpipe I can get it closer to the lower end of 6's!

the noise you hear is the shear power of the 3.5k break launch And yeah i know, my check engine light has been on for the cat.. buyin bhr wednesday... hopefully

I thought I read that brake launches were really bad for the RX8 transmissions and thats why I do NOT do them. Anyone have some input?

 

My 07 6 spd auto can get 7seconds 0-60 just by jumping on the gas while in gear at idle.

No need for me to get another tenth second by straining the trans with a rev launch.

did you notice that the "brake launch" in my video is only held for a tenth of a second itself... its not like im sitting there with the break and gas floored for 10 seconds... and nah, i really dont think holding the car at 2500 rpm even for a few seconds does any considerable damage. Perhaps if you were to do that at every red light everytime you drove the car then yeah it would add up... but almost never for half a second is not hurting anything. The tenth of a second gained is for thoes of us who have common sense.

 

I wouldn't call it common sense, but hey, it's your machinery.

I had to put a cooler on mine to keep the temps off the 249 degrees that puts it in limp mode ; after I got a new one in warranty.

It would be cool to upgrade the trans and try to burn a used up tire, but as stock the trans is fairly weak.
