Clearly there was a firmware upgrade to the DVD ROM player (not the maps) in late 04 or at least all the 05's have it- so I am told. I very much want to get the newer drive - unless there's a way for me to upgrade/flash the one I have. I will post on the other forum (classified's), to try to get one- but someone is selling one supposedly from an 05 (not sure if RX8 or Mazda 6) part number is CV-VM4270A - can anybody tell me if they actually have this part number on their unit? I know the original part number from the 04's was CN-VM4360A, and someone had this version - CN-DV2300N but I don't want to buy that other one if it won't work in my 04.

Update - My guess is the part number is really CV-VM4270A, not CN... but still wouldn't mind to know if someone has this in an RX8 - early years - 04 or 05.. Not sure how long the drives were interchangeable with either RX8's or even Mazda 6's.. Thank you.
