I love my car. it's an 06 AT. 5,000 miles and still love it. i still look good and have a great time despite what people think about an AT. I even get 24 MPG on occasion

Come on, how hard is it to push a pedal and shift a lever an inch? There is so much more activity associated with driving. Shifting is a drop in the bucket. It's not a strenous or stressful activity, I promise you.
After a couple of days it becomes totally intuitive and you don't even have to think about it. Your biggest concern will be the "other" driver, not your shifting.
Even in traffic or poised on top of a hill facing up with a stop sign, it's just no big deal once you learn how. It allows you to be in better communication with your car.
A MT will also give you the option of a compression start, should you ever need to do so, as well as complete traction control in snow, ice, or other situations where you may get stuck. There is less chance of you riding the brake with your left foot with a MT, something that a LOT of people with AT's do unconsciously. If you brake with your left foot, you're probably driving around with your brake lights on constantly (I see this several times a day). It only takes a slight amount of foot pressure to activate the switch and turn yourself into a road hazard. It also can prematurely wear the brake pads which may contribute to overheating and failure (when you need them most!).
Hundreds of millions of people have driven MT's now for a hundred years. Rest assured, you can too. And if you ever have to drive a big truck, you'll be ready. Much easier to learn in a car than in a Kenworth.
A sports car in it's purest formula has a manual transmission. If you genuinely want to experience it, and have no physical limitations, learn to drive a manual. You will be oh so glad you did.

I have had a massive "I want an MT stroke" I am telling you now, that if you live in socal or very congested areas, that "extra inch moving" is going to be a hassle, you also in terms of street and speed wise, it doesn't really make that much of a difference, wanna prove me wrong, I dare you in your stock MTs to come and race me, you might win by what, a car's length? half a car's length? that is if you shift flawlessly,

I go to the same school as you. I drive on the same freeways as you. I've even parked next to you before. And I still love my manual.

I seriously love my 06 AT shinka. No regrets about it at all. I don't get all the negativity and people saying that these cars are worthless unless they're MTs. As long as you have an 06 or later, the AT models are just fine. My AT is plenty of fun in the fake manual mode.

^^I can't ever recall anyone seriously saying the car is "worthless" with a AT...But many people actually do prefer a MT. It may be just a matter of what you were brought-up with. Some of us in the "40+" category come from a time when AT's just were not an option in a sports car. AT used to be offered in "luxury" cars only and not associated with high-performance.
And it is a sin to sit in gridlock in an RX-8. Time to move.

i have a MT, i drive 5 miles through the d.c. area then hit 95 on my way to school for another 25 miles. shifting is a biotch in city. and it doesnt make a difference on the highway. the only reason i have a MT is the bigger ***** it gives you.
