oh crap, I see a storm of bash the ATs coming.......

ToothFairy 10-07-2007 02:34 PM

manual transmission is the only way to go

road1will 10-07-2007 02:34 PM

MT. I see absolutely no reason to buy an RX-8 in AT.

ToothFairy 10-07-2007 02:41 PM

once upon a time i was going to get the 8 in AT, but I bought a MT because it was fully loaded. I couldn't drive my own car for 3 days, but once I finally took time to learn, I was SO glad I didn't get a AT. When people see your car and you tell them you have a AT, they will make fun of you. Just ask tajabaho :)

+1

Had only ATs before and was a little afraid of going MT, still got my RX-8 MT and would not have considered AT.

No offense to AT owners... whatever rocks your boat :)

briann 10-07-2007 02:55 PM

lol
ive never driven a MT car
and no one i know has one
but ive researched a whole lot about how to drive a MT/how it works
hopefully i can get an rx8, maybe next year
AT=easier, but. a sports car w/ AT?!
MT=redline?!, but im not sure if i know how and traffic?

Rootski 10-07-2007 03:11 PM

You don't want any sort of RX8 as your first car.

K I DID IT! :uhh:

Galen Darkmoon 10-07-2007 04:13 PM

Ordered the car with the 6spd auto, we don't race so the minor speed difference is of no concern. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

cjwaggs 10-07-2007 04:22 PM

Don't be a girly man!! Just kidding the auto comes in a 6 port now I do believe.

The driver could be handicapped, say, with a prosthetic left leg, or otherwise physically just not capable of using a clutch. A stroke victim or dystrophy sufferer would have a legitimate need for an AT. Many physical limitations come to mind that would preclude a manual transmission.

ToothFairy 10-07-2007 04:50 PM

^^ so true. Good point

Galen Darkmoon 10-07-2007 04:51 PM

The At is 215 hp and the MT is 232 "Don't hold me to those numbers, but I think it's right" It is the very same engine with the extra hp being developed with the higher revs, The At redlines at 7,500 and the MT redlines at 9,500

What if you only have one leg?

Edit: Damn, someone already said it.

cjwaggs 10-07-2007 05:43 PM

I've always owned manual transmission cars... but see no reason for bashing somebody that does'nt.. IMO I just coul'nt do it with this particular car. way to fun to drive with a 6 speed..

RotaryP7 10-07-2007 05:49 PM

If you want to make friends on here.. Get a MT.

I myself have an AT and love it.. Haha. I don't need friends dammit! I have my 8!

Plus, the AT is faster than the MT.. That's just what I think though.. Go figure. ;)

Spinning Sushi 10-07-2007 05:52 PM

MT is awesome, the way to go.

Reasons:
- Higher Red Line
- Better Gearing
- More Horsepower
- It has 3 pedals!
- It builds muscle in your left leg
- 75%, if not more, drive automatic in America
- Keeps your wife from driving your car :)

Rootski 10-07-2007 06:07 PM

He's 15, he doesn't have a wife.

Brettus 10-07-2007 06:23 PM

If you don't want to get the 'AT buyers remorse ' syndrome - then get the MT .

Oh - and you never ever ever hear anyone on here say " I wish I bought the AT instead of the MT "

YaXMaNGTO 10-07-2007 06:29 PM

Again, if you ask this, you have no business owning a sports car in the first place.
