MT. I see absolutely no reason to buy an RX-8 in AT.

once upon a time i was going to get the 8 in AT, but I bought a MT because it was fully loaded. I couldn't drive my own car for 3 days, but once I finally took time to learn, I was SO glad I didn't get a AT. When people see your car and you tell them you have a AT, they will make fun of you. Just ask tajabaho

+1

Had only ATs before and was a little afraid of going MT, still got my RX-8 MT and would not have considered AT.

No offense to AT owners... whatever rocks your boat

You don't want any sort of RX8 as your first car.

Ordered the car with the 6spd auto, we don't race so the minor speed difference is of no concern. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

The driver could be handicapped, say, with a prosthetic left leg, or otherwise physically just not capable of using a clutch. A stroke victim or dystrophy sufferer would have a legitimate need for an AT. Many physical limitations come to mind that would preclude a manual transmission.

The At is 215 hp and the MT is 232 "Don't hold me to those numbers, but I think it's right" It is the very same engine with the extra hp being developed with the higher revs, The At redlines at 7,500 and the MT redlines at 9,500

I've always owned manual transmission cars... but see no reason for bashing somebody that does'nt.. IMO I just coul'nt do it with this particular car. way to fun to drive with a 6 speed..

If you want to make friends on here.. Get a MT.

I myself have an AT and love it.. Haha. I don't need friends dammit! I have my 8!

Plus, the AT is faster than the MT.. That's just what I think though.. Go figure.

MT is awesome, the way to go.

Reasons:
- Higher Red Line
- Better Gearing
- More Horsepower
- It has 3 pedals!
- It builds muscle in your left leg
- 75%, if not more, drive automatic in America
- Keeps your wife from driving your car

If you don't want to get the 'AT buyers remorse ' syndrome - then get the MT .

Oh - and you never ever ever hear anyone on here say " I wish I bought the AT instead of the MT "

Again, if you ask this, you have no business owning a sports car in the first place.
