I was obvious in the first page that he wasn't really looking for our opinion rather than validation.....then he started acting his age by his responses......so it was then time to have some fun pushing buttons.

Monkeyboy,

Get the 8 or get a P.O.S., it doesn't matter. As a wise man once said, "Anything that has an engine, a lawn, or breasts will eventually cause you problems". Treat things that are important to you with care and respect and they will take care of you.

Anyone here ride motorcycles? On a CycleForum I particpate on, we get the occasional "Hey! I'm a newb, and I want a 'Busa!" We all reply "You will crash, and likely kill yourself". They reply with "I'm mature! blah blah, I can handle it, blah blah blah"

Two weeks go by when we see a thread:

"CF Member just crashed his BUSA!" where we have to read about a child with a sportbike running from the cops because he didn't have insurance, and killed/seriously injured himself".

Same kinda thing will happen here, I'm afraid. No matter what ppl here try to teach a kid, he's going to do what he's going to do. More than ever now, likely, because his Ego is still the prominent driving force behind his decisions "I'll show THEM"...

I'd let my kids have an RX8 as their first car ONLY if they wore nomex suits and helmets when they drove it with me in the car.

If you ever plan on driving in Ocean County, NJ, please post to let me know. I will keep myself and my family off the roads.

Good luck, may you survive until you get older and hopefully wiser to understand how lucky you are to have survived beyond age 17 with the 8 as your first car.

Oh and here's how your accident will happen, you will be moving fast on the NJ Turnpike, probably weaving in and out to get a jump on everyone - probably not even more than 10-15 mph faster than everyone else. All of a sudden someone will change lanes right in front of you as you're doing your weave - and wham, major accident in the blink of an eye.

If you had the experience, you may still have been weaving in and out, but you would have seen that tell-tale indication that the car was going to change lanes - that little move towards the lane just prior to changing lanes that people seem to do probably without even realizing it. Without the experience, you won't see it and you will crash.

First of all...it is this kind of youthful America that makes me sick. Look straight to mommy and daddy for a hand out. What angers me isn't the fact that you're getting a brand new car for nothing, but the fact that you're a brand new SPORTS car for nothing. What kind of responsibility could you possibly learn? My first car was a Ford F-150 that I bought for myself. My 8 is the first new car I have purchased and have to pay for every month. The reason people are angered with you is because you are the kind of person that drifts through life without a notion of responsibility or hard work. Everything I have...I worked for. I could have went to my parents, but realized that I am more of a man (and adult) for not doing so. At the very least, give all the money you have towards the purchase. Get a job. There's no reason a 15 year old can't be driving around in a new car for less than $20,000 or a used car. Grow up dude.

Has anyone pointed out the benefits of accidents?
It's not necessarily a bad thing: After all it generates work for tow trucks, body shops, hospitals, police officers, lawyers, judges, damage claim experts and gardeners.

Yea don't forget mortuaries, gravediggers, cemetaries, transplant patients, population reduction, the burden among other insureds... etc etc. Not a bad thing at all.

I'm 18
and my Rx8 is my second car believe it or not
my first car was lexus gs300
did i ever get into accident? no
did i ever drove drunk? i don't even drink
did i ever got a ticket? no
did i get a new rx8 for young age? probably
did my dad INSIST me to get M3? yes
did i turned down his offer and got rx8? yes

and if you feel bad about it cry me a river
we've got different parents
I lived and grew up different than all of you
I grew up alone while my parents were always out to work
I was always stuck with my maid or butler in the damn house
but did I go crazy and went out partying everyday? no
did i ever complain and blame my parents in any way?
i might have when i was a child but it was when i was still immature
now that i'm in high school i already knew how to do things on my own and be on my own
even some of my friends tell me i grew up too fast or i sound like their parents when i give them my opinions or try to stop them from doing something stupid teens always try to do
do you parents think of you as my parents think of me?? probably not
Did i go party with them every weekends and spend my parents money off like crazy? no
I always try to avoid asking them for money, because i know it's theirs and when i go to college and go out of society, i want to be make my own living on my own just like i always have.
So i got the damn car from my parents. I'm sorry for those of you who couldn't get enough from their parents. My dad gave me a car because i needed one. When i learned how to drive I drove lexus gs300. that was two years ago. I never abused it nor drove violently. I took very good care of it, washed it myself every once in a month or so. I loved it. Now that i'm going to be off to college. My dad wanted to buy me a new car. I never knew both of my parents would insist me to get a new car. My mom was very strict, and my dad is a typical rich man who would do about anything for his family. We even looked through some of 2004 and 2005 M3. but i always liked WRX STI and Rx7 so i told him about it, and told him i can't take M3. so i ended up getting rx8 . I'm still loving the car like my gs. Rx7 were all old ones and STi...i wanted something unique and different, so i got RX8
Do i still think if i told my dad i wanted used Rx7, he would get me one? No
Do i think if i told my dad i wanted some used toyota or any used cars, he would say yes? I don't think so
Do i know my parents better than anybody else? I think so

You sound like a level-headed kid who has been fortunate in terms of the material possessions you've been provided. I have only one piece of advice. Now that you're going off to college, learn to write and punctuate. This will enable you to support yourself in the style to which you have become accustomed.

P.S. Believe me, your professors will be very grateful.

Welll, SahkRpahx8, not everyone is quite as fortunate to be as mature or having the amount of forethought you have... trust me, if you have to stop your friends from "doing normal stupid high school kid mistakes" then obviously your an exception to the rule.

Also, Monkey didn't mention refusing an a new M3 as a precodence for this conversation, as it sounds like he is going straight for the throat with rx-8... Anyway, I know I was simply argueing his feelings about street racing, not really the fact that he was getting an rx-8. I made a recommendation for a great car that he could modify and learn to work on as well as save his parents some money. Also, an Impulse Lotus tuned suspension with the turbo is more then even I can handle well (although I would love to have one now...).

Hate to burst your bubble....but this thread isn't about you!.....

It blows me away that how much teenagers will fight to prove to the world that they are mature and worldly.

I don't care what you say, at 18 of under you don't know jack!

Damn the US college system must be scraping the bottom of the barrel if kids like shakRpahX8 can get in

And yes, I know he's from another country, but there's gotta be some English proficiency exam or something...jeeez.

I think people in young age should not drive such car as Rx8
They deserve more like AE86 or AE85 some old clunk
They have yet to learn to be responsible and lot of them don't have a slight idea of the real world. I watch a reality show called "Real World", and many young teenages watch it. They should learn how those people deal with felony to possess fake ID or being drunk in public.
MTV is not going to help them out. It's a SHOW! They have to realize when they get in trouble MTV is not going to be there with their camera and try to make the world understand them.
Parents should really think about what they're doing to these poor kids.
They have to realize how they are killing them inside and ruining their future.
Monkey, I think you have to turn down the off your parents are giving and get used Sienna or Civic Hybrid
Also teenagers should learn how to spell "dependAble" correctly and learn how to write and punctuate to make professors grateful.
And just like Stew said shut up the **** you must teenagers.
Think about our ancestors coming to this land and driving Indians out for American dream.
You think they even thought about getting a car???
and now your talking about getting an Rx8? or 35k car??
oh man teenagers....you guys don't know jack
grow up

Hmmmm, what does MTV have to do with this? I can't stand reality shows for the most part (unless its something mechanically inclined like all those chopper shows and car shows... I could do without the drama but I love watching the fabrication).

Um, I can vaguly see what he is getting at.... uh, oh wait its starting to fade *poof* now it has decended in to dribble. Damn so close too.

Also, I beleive stew was directing the wonderfully elequant STFU! at you Shak, not teenagers.
