Dealer told me I have to pay for flash updates
I am sitting here trying to search the site on my phone, but it is difficult. I have 77k miles on a 2004 rx8 and came here to get a flash update. The dealer said that since I am over 70k miles, mazda won't ccover it and I have to pay for it. Mnao is not answering on the customer service line. From what I saw from searching. It looks like mazda should cover the flashes. Any help is appreciated.

For about the millionth time...........no flash that I am aware of is categorized as a "Recall".....so quit calling it that!
Having said that...............print out the following TSB and show it to them!

Thnx mazsurfer. Yea I just wanted the msp16 flash and they did something with the pcm, maybe reset it and my pcm is having is having a hard time remapping everything. I had it idle at the dealer for 20 min, but no improvements. I am getting new plugs, wires, and coils in a few days, so hpefully that works. Then ill take to a different dealer

^...............yeah, what they may have done is actually flash the PCM and given you the latest flash.
If you are sure they touched the PCM?
Did they attach any sticker to you hood?
The flash actually goes into the PCM if you didn't know.
As Razz1 just pointed out..............immediately afterwards, you may have stalling issues until you drive it a few times. By this we mean, start it, drive it, shut it off. Then repeat a few times......sometimes over the course of a day.
However...............you may have other issues!

They did not put a sticker on my hood, but I am 100% they did something to the pcm, whether it was the msp16, I am not sure. Hopefully it is not anything else serious as I had no problems before this. Diligent with oil changes and pre mixing gas. Cars runs great. I had a misfire 2 weeks ago and that is why I ordered the plugs and bought coils and wires. I figured I get ths flash done too, but maybe should've waited

MSP16 is not a recall, but they're supposed to do it on any RX-8 they get their hands on...so it's just as mandatory as a recall, and just as free.
