Dealer installed used parts

My tail lights had some moisture in them, so I decided to take the car to the dealership to at least get the improved rubber gasket installed. However when I went to pick up my car after the repair were completed the tail lights were scratched badly. I show the manager and he said they would order me some tail lights. I get a call 2 weeks later telling me the tail light were in, so I scheduled an appointment. Once the work was completed I look at the tail lights and they had install someone else's used tail lights (that are scratched and have a dead bug in them). I can not believe a dealer would do this. Also, this dealer knows I baby my RX-8 always clean etc.

Has anyone else have a dealer try a pull this?

Do you think I should take this straight to Mazda NA or let the dealership work it out?

Thanks,

Just my opinion, but I'd call Mazda NA.

I'd be seriously pissed!

Now I'd be even more pissed. While this isn't fact......what were they going to do, give you used tail lights and turn around a charge Mazda for new ones? Not once, but twice???????

You got me. The most amazing part is they know how particular I am with my car. To think I would not notice this is amazing to me.

And yes I am pissed!

They have lots of dirt on them and the black portion that is concealed by the trunk when it is closed is worn in the location were it is typically makes contact with the trunk and they have scratches everywhere.

These are used parts!

Thanks for the input.

Tell that dealership that you are calling the news about this and contacting MNA. See what they will give you free

IMO.................it shouldn't be used as a way to get free stuff or compensation, even though it may be deserved. It's more about a dealer screwing someone and preventing said dealership from perhaps doing it in the future. It's evident that they have done it before. Jeez..................everybody wants something for nothing.

The dealer call today and will order the "new" tail lights for me.

Amazingly, on the phone he told me "we never said we would order you new lights and if we did I am sorry". He also said he looked through 20 pairs of tail light to find a good set.

WOW!
