Dealer allocation request in March '03
FYI.
I was told by my dealer today that they will place their allocation order in March 2003.
I tried to give them a down payment to gaurantee MSRP. They would not take a down payment at this time. They stated it was not necessary. It was their policy to sell their cars at MSRP or below. They would not sell on demand vs. supply.
The dealer said they would put me on a list to call at the end of Feb or early March.
I will dig deeper see if they are taking orders in March or just submitting the number they need to Mazda.

mine is already taken
Like I explained elsewhere (post delay I think), I had my order taken during the last Paris Auto Fair (October).
I have a signed order (rough one) by Mazda France to book a RX8 black 250 hp 6 speed for 38 000 euros.
Delivery anounced (and writen) : June, 15th.
Don't be sceptic it's true (just need a scanner to post here the order)

Order with allocation request
I talked with the dealer again today. He stated he would take the order for my particular RS-8 in March 2003, when he places his first order on the factory ( his allocation order ).

Hopefully this works out to our benefit

The local dealer here also told me that they wouldn't guarantee MSRP because they like to sell at MSRP or below. They would, however, take a deposit and stick it in escrow. I'm still a little wary that they are going to try and jack the price up, so I'm going to keep asking around and see if I can find someone who will guarantee me in writing MSRP or below. You can't be ripped off by paying MSRP if it's your own choice to do so- and I'm willing to make that choice, just on the off chance they're trying to screw me later.

If the order gets placed in March, you are looking at a lead time until the build (at least 30 days for a BMW), then the actual build time, QA checks, movement to shipping facility, waiting for next boat, loading on the boat, shipping by slow boat, off-loading at port, transfer to distribution center, delivery to Mazda dealer.
IMHO, I bet the first cars hit dealers around July/August.

Hey do you really read previous threads ?
I indicated a written delivery date (at least in France) : 15 th of June ...
And the price as well : 38 000 euros.
No one is surprised here ?
