Cowl Lining Question.
Oi well yesterday in our luvly New England area we had a decent storm. I bravely went out that night to visit my gf. On the drive home I hit a few snow chunks on the road (was to slippery out to be dodging 'em). I thought nothing of it since I didnt hear any major loud cracks or thuds. This morning though I came out to this.
I thought nothing of it and figured after the drive to the bank I'd sweep out the snow. Well after the bank I went to the store and when I was coming out I seen my car from a distance and noticed something hanging down. I scratched my head and said "What the **** is this?", I put my stuff inside and knelt down infront of my car and well here is what I found (pictures taken at my house).
So my question is this.
Is this covered my warrenty or am I paying outa pocket to get this part ordered. From the looks of it, it seems that a rock or a decent piece of snow with hard ice ripped out a screw and while driving some more it bent it back. Now while driving you hear the plastic scraping the ground :sigh: If I have to order the part oh well if someone could give me a ballpark price I'll just order it from somewhere and install it myself (no way am I paying a dealer $95hr to do this job!).

I can't see where the screw should be that holds the tray onto the bumper or the front end. The hole in the tray looks intact. In fact, I think I can see where two of them should be - one is a little further aft in the picture. Hard to say what it will need definitively until you get it on the hoist.
Probably not going to be covered under warranty, unless you can clearly see that there were no bolts holding things together.

Insurance is probably your only option if you want someone else to pay for the damage. Hope you have good comprehensive. If not, it may be cheaper to fix it yourself. I hit a road alligator on my way home from the dealership the day I bought my car. Did a little damage to the underbody pan that I fixed myself for the price of a few bolts/screws.

Looks like it was missing screws and got pulled down. You might be able to get the dealer to address this if you handle it right. If not then buy the screw and clips and fix it yourself.

Well I took out a screw from one side and put it on the other after bending some metal that holds the lil mud gaurd thing in place. Its holding up for now but gonna try not to drive it around that much. Monday since i have it off or tomorrow gonna goto the local Home Depot and buy some 1/2" long by 1/8" thick screws and reattach the entire cowl. I only have about 4 screws keeping the entire cowl attached to the car atm believe it or now
The screws that are further back on this piece are a mystery to me as to what size and pattern so I might have to dig around and ask a few people questions. When I reattached the screw and I bent the metal back to somewhat straight status I noticed that nothing is cracked and it seems that possibly the screws have been missing for a while now, with my luck one of the local tech's took 'em out and never bothered to put them back in. When I put the RB screens in I noticed I was missing 3 screws, now I'm missing about 3 more lol

They have a habit of falling out.....I check mine when I do oil changes and there is usually one missing every time. The screws and clips they screw into seem to have poor grip.
I should find some aftermarket screws that have more bite...
Oh...and it looks like you were using the front as a snowplow...that doesn't help

Well I took the car to the dealer today to see about getting this fixed. Over the weekend the Passenger side cowl piece fell down and was scrapping against the pavement. Needless to say that half of it is now gone. Also anytime I take a left hand turn you hear scrapping.
My service advisor quoted me a price of 467.00 to replace and fix the entire cowl piece. I told him no thanks and that I'll look online for the part(s). So off I go grrr...
Was hoping this would be covered by my Bumper to Bumper Warrenty but I guess not.

yeah, I wouldn't think road damage would be covered by the warranty - it's not a defect in the hardware. just get new push button pin things, and if that doesn't work, you can use zip ties to fasten that stuff on.
