I get new listing for the 8 each day from ebay. Constant flood of performance chips with outlandish claims, usually about 10 dollars. Will they improve anything?

Nope. The 8 doesn't even use "chips", but rather data flashes. They're selling resisters or electrical components that they claim increase power by the tricking the sensors that send atmospheric data back to the pcm.

My mother told me when I was young that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is, I tend to use that on Ebay :P

with such a critical and complicated tuning map on the 8, why would you want to risk detonation or other issues by using a $10 ebay scam? save your money.

 

that chip would probably help as much as premixing actual chips in with your gas.
