Using this gadgetry while driving should have been outlawed long ago everywhere.
+1

The fact that mazda even makes the RX8 and an auto is silly.

People sure do take a keen interest in what other people want or like. You have to be all for one thing and hate the other. In the long run, who cares. If someone says that they absolutely LOVE driving pinto's that are lime green, and wants 3 that are identical, who cares?

Thanks to everyone that responded to the question, which was more about costs and color than about a AT.
I'd prefer a stick, but if auto is going to be a harder sell on a used lot, and if it became much cheaper, then i might consider the AT.
I've never driven a high speed sports car any better than my old nissan z, and celica. Racing, comparing speed, and knowing that i'm potentially faster than another car holds little to no interest to me. I like the looks, handling, and feel inside the car.

The lot received the car as a trade-in 2 hours before i arrived. They were closing for the holidays, and i just had chance to test drive. It's still not listed on their website, and i'm going to try and contact them tomorrow. They were asking for 28K.

I've just always wondered about the price of new used cars. Most websites and information show the price to be basically the same as a brand new car minus any rebates.
Later tonight i'll check and see if any new '05's are available here in birmingham,AL or GA.

auto vs manual is a popular arguement on this site, never heard the "american attitude" before (though i bet 90% of this site is american.)

back to topic, you might be able to find cheaper, but you seem tempted to buy because of the color, don't let this lead you to buy. You have to be able to walk away from the dealer, its unique, but not the only one ever made. I say if you do not get a good deal then just wait a little and keep searching, you'll find a better deal with patience, good luck.

If I was going to get an automatic, I'd consider a different car entirely....

However, 28K is paying too much for that car. I got an 05 GT with 11.5K miles from private seller for $19K.

28K sounds way too high... I could see about 23K from a dealership around here (S. Texas).

Don't knock the AT... I purchased the auto because I get sick of rowing gears during my commute every morning and evening, especially if I get stuck in the stop-n-go crap. I was after handling and appearance. I wanted a car I could enjoy my drives back & forth to work in.

Besides, I saw my wife drive a stick once and it scared the crap out of me! I wanted to remove the transmission and give it a sympathy hug after she was done with it!

Isn't the 06 at least a 5spd auto? I considered going auto but once I saw the 40hp difference i said $&*# that. I would say that you should be able to pick that car up for $20k.
