Buying a 100K+ RX-8; a question.
I've read all the stickies and maintenance threads, so I do know what I'm getting myself into. However I had a few questions...
Since it's out of warranty, I was wondering if anybody knew how much a new 6port Renesis would cost at a dealership? It's a one owner, dealer maintained car, so I'm hoping it's mechanically sound. I need to get in and drive it around, and of course would have the compression checked before I bit the bullet.
And 2: is the SHINKA edition worth sacrificing the extended warranty given to <100k cars? (In my case) I really love the interior and color...

1) my insurance just paid for a new 6 port engine and clutch and other stuff. it came to about $5800 OTD for the motor, clutch, pressure plate, bearings and other misc crap ( engine mounts etc ), install and labor.
2) the shinka is mostly marketing. there's very little besides the paint and interior color schemes. If you want better performance, look into a newer S2 rx8 or a R3.
