arghhhhh I curb a wheel tonight
Sorry guys,
I have to vent.I just went out to get my hockey skates sharpened before I play tonight, and as I was parallel parking in hit the grinded down the edge of my passengers side wheel on the granite curb.Man does that **** me off.Worst part is the sporting goods store was closed,so I had to leave and try to find another place to do the sharpening(which i did).I don't so much worry about the look of the wheel because I will never see it while I am driving, but when/if I turn the car in after the 2 year lease I am guessing they will get me on this one.I guess the only alternative is too hope to find a used wheel at some point or get a new one. What a pain.Again I am sorry I just had to vent.

OH my friend I can feel your pain. I reversed parked into a parking stall to get some Lee's Chicken, and I should have pulled out to the left but I pulled out to the right and heard the scariest noise ever. I didnt even want to look at what just happend. I drove onto the freeway, when I got **** scared thinking I scrapped by body, instantly pulled over. It was a HUGE gauge in the wheel. I didnt know what to do, I am the guy to pull out tooth picks and tooth brushes to clean the car and now I had this. Anwyas just letting you know I can empathize with your ordeal. Just let it be, I am just lucky, I was thinking it could have been worse.

When I'm parking (and need to park really close to the curb because of a tight parking spot), and I'm not sure how far I am from the curb, I angle my side mirror downwards until I see the curb, ditch, or whatever. I wished the 8 had this feature like they have on some other cars where the side mirror angles down automatically (or at the push of a button) when you reverse.

Ouch!! You've received some great advice so far on how to touch up the damage. I have two simple parking rules....
1/ Never try and park in a tight spot
2/ Always park miles away from civilization
Good luck!!

Yep, I've got a 2 inch scrape on one rim - don't even know when it happened. Just noticed it about 3 months ago when washing my rims. I wasn't too pleased and I do wish that there was (is) some way to have the scar buffed out and re-painted but I've not heard of one.
Regarding trade-in value, nah... I had a 'stang that was 2.5 years old, low-mileage, excellent condition, GT, V8, leather interior, no dings, BUT I had scraped the be-jeezus out of the front (Bullit-style) rim - well I scraped the edges of it. I had five different appraisals on it when I traded for the 8. All were within 250 dollars of the same amount and nobody said a word about the rim.
