Add me to the highly satisfied column...

I've flooded the engine, went through two recalls (emission and ignition) and had the battery die on a cold day... and I still ADORE my 8. I'm not really a rotary nut... but it feels very nice driving down a street knowing that out of all the cars on the road, my engine is unique.

Also, the 8 is just beautiful from every angle. It seems everywhere I go, people in BMW's and other very nice cars compliment me. I've gotten at least five "Nice car!" comments in that last two months.

Posters on this boardhave been worried about declining sales, and it's disappointing to me as well but by the same token it means that you'll never go to a parking lot and see a dozen people with the same car. It's a treat to pass by another RX-8 owner, and we always wave.

My experience with customer service in all three of the dealerships has been positive. They've never been rude or unhelpful. The problems have been resolved after I've taken the car in.

The gas mileage varies from cringe to decent. My last car was a Camry, so it was a BIG adjustment filling up more often. However, my tank lasts me about 5 days on average... which is not bad considering I commute 60 miles per day.

Truthfully, the RX-8 is NOT for everyone. But if you fell in love with it from the moment you saw it, like me... I don't believe its style and performance as an owner will disappoint you.

what are you hesitant about? i know it's probably been a bit hard to weed through some posts when there are a few trolls around just looking to antagonize but what is it that has you hung up? the 8 will treat you right if you just take a few precautions and drive it the way it should be. it's a unique experience that shouldn't be passed up based on fear but i know that is a big thing to overcome when the loudest mouth in this place knows nothing about cars, had a bad experience, and wants to turn everyone else off. what is it that we can help you figure out?

I learned about this car when I was 16-17 also, but didn't have the money. Went through 3 vehicles including a new 2006 car that I had for 3-4 months before I found my rx-8 (no, i didn't break the past three cars, just got bored with each one after awhile) Now I am 21 and couldn't be happier with the car.

I found this forum, read through multiple posts about mpg, flooding, drinking oil, etc. before I truly decided to make the jump. There are a lot of people here that think they know best and will try to get as much attention as they can just for the hell of it. You need to ignore them and take into consideration the people that are having issues and working to get them fixed. Most of them will say it is a pain, but they still like the car.

Good luck, as long as you can handle taking care of the car (checking oil frequently, letting it warm up...I know these are really difficult for some people ) I think you will enjoy this car.

Rx8's IMHO are all about the drive. If you like the way it feels.....buy ...and as a reasonable adult know if you take care of her, she'll take care of you.

My research included a test drive. I wasn't concerned about MPG, Horse power, she just felt 'right'..I learned the rest by reading my manual, FOLLOWING my manual's instruction's and stumbling on this site, by just being curious as to what my beloved was all about.

My dealer mechanic slipped me one tip when I was in for my first oil change, and had heard about the engine recalls...........he told me........drive her like you stole her.....and do what you know you have to do, as far as maintaince and you'll be fine. Have not had 1 problem, and have had my 06 MT SHinka for 7 months, and have approaching 11,500 miles, from Brand new...... good luck. Laura

appricate the post. im not really worried about the car itself, its like any other car, stuff break you fix it, happens on all cars. The thing im just worried about is i dont know enough about the car but then again ill learn that over time.

it all depends on how much you want to know. i'm not a mechanic and don't even pretend to play one on tv so there are a lot of specifics i won't ever know about my car. however, i also had a 7 back in the day so i've had a little time to know how the rotary will behave, what it is, and what it is not.

i think you probably have a good sense of the extra TLC that this car will require and that should be enough. don't expect a lot of low end torque, she will consume a lot of gas, you may have to top her off with oil a little more, moving her without letting her warm up may have her giving you a hard time, and drive her like you stole her. other than those maintenance keys it's a lot like other cars. you can learn the ins and outs or you can let an expert (or hopefully expert) work on it for you.

plus the smile on your face when you push 9K rpms and stick it in the turns is one you will not want to let go of. of course those are just my two cents.

haha, Everyday home from school i go down this road thats curvy and the speed limit is only like 35 so i take it at like 45 in my camaro. I Love the feel of driving fast threw the curves and everything so i got a feeling this car will be the one for me. The reason i chose this over the 350z is cause i have to have back seats. The audi TT is still up for decision as i like it alot also, but the bad thing about that is, if it ***** up then i have to drive up the a big city that is 3-4 hours away ( If it isn't bad enough to be driven) ;[
