Is the 2005 retractable key too bulky?

I need honest objective opinions from the owners of the retractable key. I'm considering buying the 2005 key. It's a very cool key I like it a lot but do you owners of that key feel it's too bulky for you pockets?

I have the '04 separate key/fob setup, and I also tried out the '05 flip key/fob combo when I was testing driving a 05. I'd say it's definitely less bulky than the separate key and fob that the 04's use.

but I think I'll save meself 150 bucks and just use what I have now, the cool factor and the slightly smaller size don't matter to me much :o

I just bought the 2005 key and its definitely worth the money. Much less bulky than the seperate key and remote fob. I would say with the key retracted, it is almost as big as just the 04 remote part, not even counting the key.

Can any dealership change the 04 keys to the 05's? I might want to do it too!

They won't do an exchange. If you have an 04 you have to buy the 05 key. My dealership cut the key for me free, but I programmed it myself (took 5 mins).

Love my retractable key for my 04. Definitely less bulky than the separate key fob and key.

The 05' key is so nice. Fits in your pocket and you forget all about it. Glad I spent the money, now i dont just lay me keys around.

No, it's not. I've had the same key for my VW for almost 6 years now. Regular keys are a PITA by comparison. The only problem is when someone else gets a hold of it and won't stop playing with it <grab>GiveMeThatBackDammit!</grab>

bought the 05 key. was a lot of money, probaly didn't need it. but it is a lot less bulky and feels good in the pocket(plus i like to open then close it, makes a cool clicky sound . I carry my keys around 365 days a year almost and having one less thing to worry about is always a plus (04 = 2 piece, well you get the picture)

My old car had a separate key and fob. Combining both into one unit was a good idea. I like it!

thanks spool up! I think you may have just inspired me to install an aftermarket alarm system and cut out that area and put the LCD screen that comes with it :D

I have the retractable key... It is less bulky that the key and remote that came with our Mazda 6.. We love the "flick key" - "Don't mess with me I have a flick key".. Could become better known than "make my day" or "that's not a knife - THIS is a knife!" :D
