The 200000-Mile Club
Oil/Filter: Changed every 5000 miles, except for the 1st change;
Puralator PureOne PL4610 filter used for every change;
2800 miles (1st change), Royal Purple (RP) 5w-30;
90000 miles, switched to RP 15w-40;
I keep the oil topped off at the "full" mark at all times!
Ignition Coils: Replaced original OEM coils at 106000 miles because I had the Mazsport Ignition Solution laying around in the garage for almost 1 year, plus I had nothing to do that particular weekend
Spark Plugs: NGK OEM;
Changed every 35000 miles;
I roll my own plug wires at every plug change
Sohn Adapter: Developed an oil leak around/near the Oil Metering Pump (OMP) at 163000 miles, so decided it was a nice time to install the Sohn Adapter (which was also laying in the garage for about 3 years). Finally stopped oil leak after reinstalling the adapter three times (thinner home-made gasket with lots of gasket sealer, replaced the rubber o-ring, and copper gasket);
I wish I had done this mod sooner (like at 10000 miles), I REALLY like this setup;
Using Amsoil Intercepter two-stroke in the oil tank

I wonder what is the highest mileage original engine that is still going now?
I wonder how many people are even still on their original engine.
It's been 15 years since that 200lk was achieved, no one else has anything similar to report?

The maintenance history on mine is a bit of a mystery, but I didn't spot a stamp you'd find on engines rebuilt by Mazda. Either my RX-8 is still on the original engine or it was resealed by a specialty shop beforehand.
Not me, I got an engine replacement at around 72,000 miles. Car still ran great, made good power, and wasn't showing any signs of low compression but I tested it anyways since the warranty was about to expire and Mazda replaced the motor
Why did Mazda replace the motor if there were no known issues or signs of impending issues?
Its not a bad thing to do compression tests on your engine. You can set the interval and do it when you choose. This biggest thing is to make sure its performed correctly with the engine at normal operating temperature and by using a proper rotary compression tester.
Sounds like a recipe for pain
